What are the likely problems with using a 6 month + highchair on a 4.5month baby?

MIL has gone out and bought a 6 month + one as is insisting we use it for christmas dinner to sit Ellie in. I know it is going to cause (another) major row if I refuse to use it and take up the 4+ month one we already have, so I need to know if it is worth it and be able to back up what I am saying. I did ask her to make sure it was suitable for 4monhs but she just felt I was being silly - after all "I have bought up 3 children you know"

i got alex's one at about 4½ motnsh and to be honest he just flopped to one side - you would never have fed him in it even though it reclined!

i tried propping u with towels etc and nothign worked - we just used a bumbo till he was six months ( i still sit him on a folded up blanket to make him at a better height!) depends on the highchair though i guess :?

think you may have very annoyed and uncomy baby come christmas day!

i think you may have a problem hun with the 6 months + one because little one is not going to be sitting by then and will prob just fall over stick to your guns and take the one you have

Hi

I would tell her taht it just aint gonna work and if she wont listen maybe sneakily keep yours in the car and dotn bring it in till you try teh one she bought?

I agree. we had to prop aimee up from all angles and she still managed to fall to the side. You couldn't get any food in her like that and she hated it.

Can you try it before Christmas, or why not just take the 4 month one with you "just in case"

If she sits up in it OK on the day it'll be fine, if not, you'll have a back up.

Think we are going to have to. I don't think she wil be eating with us by then anyway - MIL wans her sitting with us fr christmas dinner. She is rather obsessive and has been hassling us to give her grandchildren ever since we got married - over 7 years ago

Aaron had a 6 month one at 4 months and had no problem with it. I just used a fleece blanket on it so he could sit properly and he loved it.
