Hi all,

I hope you don't mind me joining you, I will be beginning my ICIS journey shortly.

My husband and I have been TTC for 4 years. We have about 8 months ago we were referred to a specialist who completed all our tests, I was shocked to find out I was given the all clear but poor hubby had some very disappointing results and we have been advised to we will go straight to ICIS.

Due to my weight I was given a target to achieve before out next appointment in September; I have lost 6 stone with 3 more to lose by 8th September - he agreed that if I have hit this (bmi of 35)he will complete our referral and we can begin.

I think will need to lose a few more stone to get my bmi to under 30, but he wasn't worried about that and said the waiting list is only a few months so I can just get as close as possible in that time.

I have been reading all your posts and learning a lot. Its lovely to see the support here.

Wishing everyone lists of luck xx

Hi tashap

Your story sounds exactly like my cousin's.

Her and her husband had been trying for 4 years, she was told to lose a couple of stone to bring her bmi to around 30 which she did and this didnt help their fertility.

They tested her husbands sperm and he had poor results so they were referred for ICIS treatment a couple of months ago.

She is now pregnant on her first try with one baby, I think she is around 10 weeks which has been confirmed with a scan.

I hope that gives you some hope :-)

Do you live near the fertility clinic? As she lived around 30 miles away and had to do ALOT of driving back and forth to go for blood tests and scans etc, she complained at the time but I'm sure its all worth it now x

Thank you, that really does give me hope x

I don't live near it - about 20 miles away but it is near work so hopefully I can fit most of the appointments around that x

Hi sorry to sound thick but what is icis treatment and what does it involve?

Hi Vegas

I haven't been through the process myself but my cousin said that she had to inject drugs for about a month to put her in a menopausal state, she had to go to the hospital with her husband on a specific day to have her eggs harvested and her husband had sperm extracted from his testicals.

I think then she had to inject more drugs and then they put the fertilised egg back inside her womb.

I think that's how she explained it (someone correct me if I'm wrong) she was injected for weeks before the operations so it's a long process I'm glad it worked first time for her as it took it out of her x

Hi Vegas in icsi All the treatment is exactly as per ivf (regarding drugs scans and so on) with the difference that egg is not being put in to dish with sperm but they pick best swimmers :) and inject into egg. Hope that's help.
