Hi all!

I haven't posted in Tri 1 as i only found out I was pregnant at 12 weeks. Im now 15 weeks and found out a week ago that I'm expecting twins. I already have a little girl who is 14 months old, and I was never off here during my pregnancy with her.

My twins are MoMo which means they are sharing a placenta and an amniotic sac. They are classed as high risk and so I'm trying not to get to far ahead of myself. But, I thought I should say hello finally rather than just being a secret lurker!

Wow - congratulations on your double surprise. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xxx

Hiiiiiiiiiiii!!!! I am so relieved to hear someone else is expecting twins! :D Feel free to message/chat to me any time. Mine are high risk too and I've been so worried about it all, mine are monochorionic diamniotic so same placenta/different sacs and like you I only found out at 12 weeks so it's all been a bit of a shock and I'm now 15 weeks+!

Are you seeing a specialist yet? Also have you got booked in for scans every 2 weeks? I have my next on Monday and I'm so nervous/excited. xxxx

Im 15 wks tomorrow. Got my first specialist appointment on Monday. Im expecting to see consultant every fortnight as Im monochorionic mono amniotic. It's the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. I have barred myself from google as I am terrifying myself with horror stories and percentage rates. I can't believe how close together we are!!! x

I know, it'll be nice having someone to talk to and see how you're getting on. Hope your specialist appt goes well, mine was good and I'm looking forward to the regular scans as it will help put my mind at rest. They're building a special twins section at my local hospital in October so I should hopefully get a lot of specialist care specific to multiple pregnancies.

I was on google earlier and it actually made me cry, I just don't think I can read about it any more even though I feel like I need to do the research. Think I'll ban myself like you have just to keep me sane!

Have you announced it to friends/family yet? My family know but we were meant to be telling friends tonight and my OH wants to announce on Facebook but I'm just so scared to announce it. This is my first pregnancy so it's depressing being in Tri 2 and still not being in a 'safe zone' :(

congratulations :)! defo stay off google!its scary reading all the stories ect... xx

Yes we've told everyone. I've resigned myself to the fact that there isn't going to be a safe zone, so thought we might as well tell everyone. I'm sure everything will work out fine. Where a bouts are you based? My hospital will be Oxford x

At the moment I'm living in Bedford but the hospital I'll be going to that has the specialist twin section is in Luton, would rather them not be born there but as it has a new specialist area/consultants it's important they are.

That makes me feel more assured that you've told people too, I feel like I want people to know just google has scared me. Think we'll still announce it tonight and pray all goes well, i'm sure we'll both be fine :) xx

You're not a million miles from me. Im in Buckinghamshire. Oxford is 40 mmins drive away so not the closest, but like you say, its the best place for the best care. The way I looked at it was this - if god forbid something went wrong I would want my friends to know what I was going through. The more that know, the more positive vibes they can send you! xxx

That's true, I think I'm nervous as there are a few 'friends' who are in our circle who aren't the nicest of people and I don't think will be happy for us/give us any support - some just aren't into having children/settling down and think it odd that people actually do. Needless to say they aren't my friends more my partners friends he's always known but we share the same circle so once it's out there they will know. I could be wrong and everyone could be very supportive, I guess I'm just worrying!
Anyway will announce tonight :)

If Oxford is the best care then definitely the best place to go. That's nice that you're close, good to know there's someone else nearby going through similar to me - i've been scanning these boards for someone expecting twins but think it's just us!

Congratulations! Stay off google you two it's no good for you. I banned myself from it since pregnancy. you can read awful stories about everything it's not worth it. remember the millions and millions of successful and happy births that google fails to mention!! good luck telling your friends sammy xx

Thanks Kate, I've just told them and all has gone well - i'm shocked I don't know why I always expect the worst lol! xxx
