I went to the doctors yesterday for the 6-8 week check and discussed contraception and was given the mini pill. I have only taken one, last night, but I have been leaking in the night (I never leak) and this morning I cannot feed my baby (last feed was at 4am) as my supply hadn't replenished.I usually have a great supply. I'm distraught and upset. My baby is crying because I can't feed him :-( can they be linked ? If I stop taking it what will happen or have I ruined everything? x

I don't know about the mini pill Hun, but I took antibiotics once and dried up. When I stopped taking them my milk came back.

He you tried expressing to see if you can get any?

I'd just ring your gp as soon as you are able to x

The mini pill doesn't contain oestrogen. It's the oestrogen which can affect milk supply.
Mini is preferred if you are nursing but having said that it could have an affect.
Have you tried a warm bath to stimulate your milk?
I'd call the Breastfeeding network and have a chat with them too.
You haven't ruined anything hun xxx it could be as simple as changing to a different one or its just a blip in your supply. Try to stay calm and have lots of skin to skin, see if hat helps.

Thank you for your reply.

I haven't tried the bath, I had an awful night (including tears and arguments with oh) Luca was screaming all night, I managed to get him to sleep from 11 till 12 but then he woke and I was up till 4 when I put him back in his Moses basket after a feed, he woke again at 6 and I thought he was hungry, I tried feeding him but he was messing around and crying and I felt empty... Which made me panic... I tried expressing like tweety recommended and managed to get 5oz however Luca has been sleep since 7... So he's still not fed but I think he must have been over tired... I think I was just stressed out after 2 hours sleep and I panicked when perhaps he wasn't hungry after all... I can't explain the leaking though... I'll have to keep an eye it... Ooh he's just waking... Xxx

The leaking may be coincidence .. Supply is established at 6 weeks so it may just be settling down x

Why do I get so paranoid about everything. It's not helping that Luca is being impossible at the moment. He'll only feed from one side now, flatly refusing the other, the side I'm having issues with and I need him to feed from it, I currently haven't got the patience or time to start expressing again.. Gahhh. Deep breath... Xxx

Take a deep breath hun

They go through a leap at 6 weeks I think, and a growth spurt.

Why don't you try getting into bed, lay topless and let him feed as and when he wants?

Get a good movie or too and some snacks xx

He has had a massive growth spurt over the last couple of weeks! Went from tiny baby to nearly 0-3 almost completely missing out newborn size.

Well I have persevered today, he had been very wingy and difficult but is feeding again... Hoping for a better night so I manage more than two hours sleep!

Thank you for your help today, it's much appreciated xxx

Well done! It is very hard when they go through a growth spurt. But it doesn't last long. You just need to chill, eat well and rest.
It probably isn't the pill, but you never know.

We'll see how the pill goes, I looked on the manufacturers website and it states that it does not reduce supply, surely they wouldn't write that unless they were 100% certain... Xxx

A lot better today thanks, I went to bed at 10 last night and Luca slept until 2am, awake for 45 mins then woke at 4.30 and 6.30 so I managed some sleep! Yay :-) ... The feeding has been a, lot better today too and lots less screaming! Thanks for checking up on me xxx
