Dunno where to post this!

Hiya!

I am currently studying for my nvq level3 in childcare but after xmas my hours got cut and ive gone from working every afternoon to 3 hours a week! big difference! would like to do some work being a nanny or baby sitter a few days a week or evenings. Some people on gumtree are looking in my area but dont even mention being fully qualified! my problem is not driving! If i was to find a family that wanted 2/3 days a week doing school run/help cleaning and looking after little ones..would i have to declare this? and would i need to do a course/be ofsted registered?

Just wondered if anyone could help!

Thanks! x

best to get ofstead registerd hun as then the family can claim help towards it off the goverment

But surely if it was only a couple of hours a week, would they still do that? and do u know how it works with them doing this as it wouldnt be at my home, it would be at theres?
Thanks

depends how much they earn really if there a well off family im sure they wudnt mind paying you outa there own pocket

You should be fine, explain to any potential employers that you are currently doing your nvq. Most familys are more than happy to employ someone with out qualifications if they like the person and think there children will too. I worked as a Mothers help for two high profile doctors when I was 19 over a summer, they were cool with me not having qualifications, I had a little experience so they met me, got me to spend an afternoon with the family and went with the mother to do the pick up so they were used to me. But since your gaining a qualification and you have experience then you should have no problem really. First aid is a good one to have if you havent already xx hope this helps

Thank you! Yeah not many that ive seen on advertising sites have mentioned qualifications!
Im not sure on the difference between nanny/babysitting/mothers help. Babysitting thats all you do, no picking up or cleaning but the other are pretty much the same? My first aid has been booked but have to wait for them to call when theres a space, its kinda weird way they do it. Have a safeguarding certificate too!
Where did u get the work like where did u look? word of mouth or sites?
Thanks

I found someone who wanted me to work for them full time being likes mothers help. school run, cleaning and cooking! i cant cook its the only thing :| she actually came to me, i have an ad on gumtree. lives not too far away but would mean the 3 hours i currently work and get my qualifiction for would go down the drain completely. :\

Oh hun don't know what to say about that, would the mother allow you to do those three hours to finish your course? Its a good start hun if you dont take the job its a brill start that someone has contacted you. Yeah gumtree is a great place, I cant remember where I found the job but like you I put an add up and the mother contacted me. Google childcare agencies..tinies is a brill one they even have temp jobs in nuseries so get on the web site! I'm based in West London...an agency called plan personnel they do temp nursery nurse jobs so if your in that area get down and register there are a few over the country. I dont think its gonna be a prob hun all the best good luck xx

Yeah ive found a few online! Thank you!! :)x

And no she wouldnt let me just have the 3 hours :\
