Dylan's routine used to be great..... bath at 18:30 and in bed by 19:30. Bottle at midnight and slept through until 8am (ish)

However.... OH and I had a well deserved night out (2 nights on the run) and Dylan was babysat both nights by my dad and stepmum. I asked them NOT to play with him in the lead up to bedtime and just to put him down at 19:30. Of course they played with him! He ended up going to bed at midnight.

Since then he has been REALLY tired and needing bed at his usual bedtime of 19:30 but waking up at 22:00 and not going back to sleep until midnight. He is then sleeping in until 10am. I have tried making him get up earlier but to no avail as as soon as i got him up at 8am he was screaming for more sleep.

I just dont know what to do or how to get him to sleep like he used to instead of waking up for that couple of hours in between????

Any advice would be much appreciated as im officially all out of ideas

I'd just persevre tbh.

And thank your Dad and step mum and tell them next time they babysit they can stay for 3 weeks to help get him back in to his sleeping routine that you had before they helped chuck it out the window

I"m so glad the people we ask to babysit or look after Galen respect the way we do things. We had a friend baby sit the other night and I said if he wakes up, don't give him a bottle or anything, just leave him in his cot and only take him out if he really screams. Then make it boring as hell, don't do anything with him, just cuddle and avoid eye contact and then pop him back in his cot about 15 minutes later and leave him to go back to sleep.

He woke, my friend did exactly as I had asked and he was back asleep within half an hour of waking. She cuddled him, he calmed down, felt tired again and as nothing exciting was happening he went back to bed happily.

Yep Id just persevere too as Sherlock suggested, im sure he will fall back into his routine soon enough

I have this problem to a lesser extent everytime Charlie goes to my MIL's for a night...if he wakes at 5am which is rare I give him his dummy back and he goes straight to sleep which I asked my MIL to do to. However my MIL has been giving him warm milk...I also asked her to give him room temp milk but hey ho, I'm only Charlie's mum, why should she listen to me at all :wall: So now he always expects milk at 5am for a couple of nights after being at hers. The whole idea of him staying at hers for the odd night is to give me a break is pointless when I have to get up at 5am to calm a screaming baby for the next few mornings! Just keep going, he'll be back in a routine soon.
