Ok so we are on about the fourth attempt of taking the side off mias cot and it just doesn't seem to suit her. we've just potty trained her and she has been asking to get up for a wee in the night so we thought it'd be good to take the side off and have a potty in her room. For the last few weeks she's been sleeping through which has been a treat and waking between 7-7.30. As soon as the side came off the cot last night she woke twice crying for me and was up at 6.30. She has a bed guard on too to make her feel more secure but she just doesn't seem to like the cot side being off! I'm due another baby in August and to be honest could do with a period of good sleep! Trouble with me is every time I get woken I take ages to get back to sleep and I feel crap today! I had two toddler wake ups, two toilet visits and my husband got up at 5am. Grumpy lol
Anyone had similar issues with their toddler? Xx

Aww, sorry, no I can't help out. My son was absolutely fabulous with the transition and now sleeps in a single bed. We definitely got lucky with that one.

Though, well done on the potty training my son just is not interested in the potty at all. Grrrrr.

The only problems we had with changing to a bed was that her new-found freedom meant she ran around before bed a few nights in a row, but after that she was fine. We changed our daughter's cot for a bed when she was just under 2.5, but she was still in nappies. Even now she's potty trained during the day, we're not going to attempt night training for a while (she's just turned 3). Maybe being fully potty trained is enough for her at the moment? Since she was sleeping well in her cot, I'd be really tempted to leave her as she is for now (unless it's unsafe and she tries to climb out) and get some good night's sleep xx

Hello you!

Not seen you in aaages!

Hope all is good with you and bump? Do you know if it's pink or blue?

In regards to Mia, I would persevere with it hun.

Perhaps it's just that she's not used to it and needs a bit of time to adjust.

How long have you had the side off for?

Well done with potty training. I'm going to do Cam in the summer. Not looking forward to it at all!!

I can't help as I have the same problem. We took the sides off my sons cot a few months ago and after 4 days of hell I begged my OH to put the sides back on. My son simply couldn't handle the freedom.

We're going to have to try again at some point and I'm dreading it.

The potty training just kinda happened! Someone told me they'd just do it when they are ready and it shouldn't be a struggle and as she was ready it's been easy! Going out without a nappy was the scariest thing!
I don't think I can face persevering with the side off as last time we tried she escalated to waking 4-5 times a night. I'm now 23 weeks pregnant and figure the next few weeks of sleep are precious for me! We tried to stick with it last time, literally as soon as the side went back on she didn't wake up once and slept through til 7.30 ish. I'm just going to wait a while longer. She doesn't try to climb out so there's no safety issue. In fact she's never in a hurry to get out, she loves it! I can live with getting up once a night to get her out for a wee. I wasn't expecting her to do that straight away I must admit!
Emily, how are you? I've not been on as much lately! So busy!!! I'm expecting a blue bump!! So one of each which is lovely! How's the ttc going with you? Xxxx

I feel your pain!!! I said to hubby last night I'm dreading this and I was right to! I think I'm going to keep her in her cot forever!!!
I just worry about when we go away really as travel cots are getting a tad small for her and she won't sleep in a bed!!! Arghh toddlers lol!! Xx
