Its a very good friends babys christening on the 18th of march, we would really like to show our faces even if its just for an hour or so. If i go so far over that i am induced our baby will only be a week old which is why we wouldnt stay very long but OHs friend has told us that babies shouldnt be taken out until they have had their first lot of injections, ive never heard that a baby shouldnt be out and about until they are two monthd and i.am always seeing people in asda etc with new bornn babies. I am i completly wrong are you meant to keep a baby at home for the first 2 months. Xx

I've taken Joshua out loads! His injections are on the 27th. Being stuck inside these four walls for that long would drive me crazy! Just make sure you LO is warm enough etc and don't let anyone I'll go near them.xx

Also, I took joshua out forthe first time when he was three days old. Wasn't for long but needed to get a few things.xx

Jack was born on 20th June and we went shopping for supplies for him and then out for a Birthday dinner on 25th! They're fine tiny hun, just keep baby wrapped up and away from people with coughs/colds etc. Remeber if they're born in hospital you have to go out into the air to take them home :) x

My mw told me to take lo out as much as possible, it was warm weather. he was slightly jaundice and the sun helps clear it up, that was 3 days old.

Thank you to be honest i think its just this lass trying to cause trouble shes like that and im sure i saw her out and about with her LO when she was a new born xx

What a load of crap! Of course you can take your baby out! We went for a walk round the park in January when Tyler was a week old and that only took so long because I had a section. Just make sure baby isn't too hot/cold and you'll be fine.

I took Thomas out at 11 days (we'd been on hospital for 10) and we went out with the pram for air nearly every day Baby will be fine xx

think i have been out (even if just for a walk) most days since the birth - you would go crazy otherwise and think they need a bit of fresh air!

I had to start doing the school run when Jax was a week old. Would have been sooner than that if he hadn't been born in half term!

Yep, she's speaking shit. I've always taken mine out a few days after they were born. When drake was born they let me go home the same day and was told by the midwifes to come back the next day for his proper checks!

I took Phoebe out at a week old. It's whenever you feel ready to really. I think 2 months is a long time for a baby to be cooped up in the house though xx

We took Georgia to the pub at 3days old (it's a friends hotel that was closing). I've just been to bf support group at mw clinic today, at less than 2weeks, on the mw's recommendation. And we've been to visit my work, MILs shop, registrar, out for lunch.

Lol - DH isn't very good at staying in the house. Lol. Xxx

I was at my brothers yesterday with his 2 day old and mw came round to check on her and encouraged them to go out and get fresh air and minimise the risk of jaundice by getting sunlight.

I am glad you have all said this i was sat there thinking omg i'm going to be an awful mum I didnt even know you couldnt take a baby outside. Chilled out a bit now lol. don't think i could cope with being in the house for 2 whole months lol. xx

I was told that it's fine to take the baby out even when they're a few days old. Though for obvious reasons you might want to restrict who will be holding/touching the baby to make sure that they don't pick up any infections from people with colds etc. Just be sensible would be my advice :)

You shouldn't keep a baby inside for that long they need sunlight if jaundiced and fresh air.. Went out with lily at 4 days old and was doing the school runs.. Just keep LO wrapped up warm and theyll be fine :)

We took Sophie out on day 4 as well. They have to get their immune systems starting at some point and it really doesnt do you or them any harm :). I had to go out once Sophie was born, being in the hospital for 3 days was driving me mad and to then stay in at home would have pushed me over the edge lol
