I had the implant put it around a month and half ago. It all seemed fine and i thought it was brilliant but now for the last 3 weeks i am bleeding :(

I know i wanted to stop pregnancy but not by stopping sex lol Am i going to have to change birth control? Is there medication to stop the bleeding? I have no idea as this is the first time I have ever used contraception.

Normally the doctor can prescribe a pill to take to regulate bleeding. It can also take some time for your body to adjust to it and regulate your periods.

When I had my first one in before I had LO I had it in for over 2 years and only bled every 3-6 months xx

Some people do have problems with bleeding on the implant. I had it about 5 or so years ago when my GP surgery started refusing to give me my depo jabs as often as I needed them (I have severe endometriosis) and for the first few months it was fabulous, then the bleeding started and never stopped. How I reacted is pretty rare - I was constantly anaemic, losing lots of blood and (sorry if TMI) huge clots - was put on 1 lot of pills to begin with, then a second lot was added to the first, but was still bad enough. Ended up with 2 hysteroscopies to rule out other issues and finally had the implant removed from my arm and a mirena coil put in instead (which was fab, in fact it's the only thing that's ever really worked for me!)

This really isn't common, but often not explained that it can happen. I think seeing your GP is the best course of action - they can give you something that may help, but if it doesn't help you may need to think about changing to something else.

I had mine in at 6 weeks after LO, and had 3 weeks of bleeding and now had none for 12 weeks :-)
Worth sticking with it, even if you need a pill over the top to regulate the bleeding, it doesn't matter if you miss one :)

I'm hoping it will calm down, but i do have an appointment next Tuesday if it hasn't stopped by then. Hopefully tablets will help x

I know this can be quite common at first with Mirena, can imagine it's the same with the implant and possible depo shot too but esp if it's bothering you see the GP and see what can be done x
