ryto............. i dyed my hair black a few years ago,

does anyone know how i can get ridof it............. before i shave it off and start again????????

plz help :rotfl: :rotfl:

Id go to a proper hairdressers hun.
Itll probobly take a few weeks, but they said to me about doing half of it first, then the other half the next week, as it wont damage your hair so much then :)

Hi Linzi  , I'm a hairdresser with my own salon :shhh: , but without seeing your hair in the flesh so to speak I would not like to advise really hun sorry. You must def go to a salon on this one it's not a home job. It all depends on what colour you want to achieve and how much if any the black has faded.

cheers jazz, but ive been into a few hairdressers in my area and theyve all said theres not really much that can be done, if it gets bleached (b4 puttin a darker colour on) my hair could snap :( and i was also told to wash it with head and shoulders as theres supposed to be something in it to lighten your hair colour  ......... but god thats gonna take forever... ive tried putting different colours on but they dont touch the colour, only the root... xxxx

That sucks :(
I had black hair about a months ago, went to the hairdressers and they put a 'lightner' on it. It just lifts the colour up enough so its not black but reallt dark brown and the lighter doesnt have all the harsh chemicals off bleach. I'm now going to have the lightner put on every 2 months, so eventually it will get to the light brown I want without messing up my hair. Maybe ask them about a lightner just to get to a dark brown?

 ..... this is the colour of my hair, may just be a lil more faded near the root area as its not a recent pic. not even the same style anymore :rotfl: ... the colour i want to acheive is maybe a dark brown so can be lightened over time.. black just seems too blunt.. iykwim x

It's pretty black hun!

Jazz is right you can have lightener on it, it is basically a mild bleach wash with conditioners in, it is drying but if you look after your hair after the treatment it should be ok. If I was going to do it I would put lightener on then use a semi in the colour you want after as it will grab.

That sounds really easy but the lightener may have to go on in stages as it processes. It's all a bit technical and you really need a salon that specialises in colour in your area or you can come and see me!!!

Be sure that you want to get rid of black because if you get rid then go back then want to change again it is a nightmare!! Once or at most twice, the more you do it the worse your hair condition gets.

I bleach my hair with peroxide and it can go really coarse and loads of split ends- you'll probably get the same problem- it's horrible

It's a 10 Miracle
This stuff is AMAZING. Seriously, I used it once and my hair looks like I've had it cut and all the dryness is gone. It is pretty pricey- I got my from the local hair and beauty wholesalers and it was about £14.

i would come see you! if it wasnt that we were so far apart :rotfl: :rotfl: .... im certain i want rid of the black though now.
what price range am i looking at for lightening???. i wouldnt trust myself to do anything anymore haha.

thanks for the replies everyone

I don't know the prices in your area hun but with me it would be about £80 -£90 including a cut and blowdry, but don't skimp on this Linzi you need to get some one that knows what they are on about pref a recommend from a friend.

It's a dear job as it takes so long it's the time you are paying for and also fair amount of colour so sounds expensive but if you broke it all down every part of the process has a cost. If money is tight try the colleges they love a challenge!! or a junior stylist in a salon but make sure they will be supervised by a senior the whole time x x

Hope you get it sorted keep us updated x x Right off to bed night night

Heres how I was told to get the black out of my hair. I went back to blonde for a whole 6 months before dying it blue then black again.
Get a hair bleaching kit. Make it up using 50% of everything. Mix with an equal amount of shampoo. Rub into your hair and leave for 15-20minutes. Wash out and deep condition. I did this once a week for 4 weeks and my hair when from black to a yellow so I used a toner and it went blonde.

I got mine lightened, dyed, cut, and deep conditioned about 7 times for £50.
So there are some cheap places out that that do good jobs :)
