Keyaan's almost 20 weeks, he needed weaning to start when he was 15-16 weeks. (sucking his hands and trying to eat anything, and unsatisfied after a bottle, and his weight being the same as an average 6-8 month old!).. so introduced him to baby rice.

things were going really well and he was opening his mouth and swallowing most of it.

Now he's learnt how to stick his tongue out, and spit (blow rasberries) and refuses to eat anything, even the rusks mushed isn't staying in, which he used to love!..

I introduced flavoured baby porridge and try the rusks as they were his favourites, but he seems to enjoy spitting it out more than he enjoys eating, I'm a little bit worried i've gone backwards, and find myself giving him more bottles as i fear he's not eating enough.

He's also very consitpated (has been since he started on the rice etc).. has 2 hard poos a day, and struggles when he goes (very embarissing if im out shopping and people pass us, hear him straining to push one out!!! not just him going red!)

Anyway, just looking for some advice on how to stop him spitting everything out, i've tried distracting him with songs while the foods in his mouth, but it doesn't make him swallow, just waits till i get the next spoonful and sticks his tongue out so all the food falls out.

He's got no teeth yet so weary of trying him with rly solid food, but think he's absolutley desperate to chew on things, so wonder if i should hand him half a rusk or some toast to suck on- or is it too soon..

OMG just any opinion would be great!! Feel so clueless
Thanks!

if he can hold half a rusk then give it to him, id not stress so much hun at this age its not really important if they eat a lot so let him blow raspberries or play with the food for now and just make sure he gets his bottles. how much milk does he have in a day?
Alyssa is a big baby but shes all in proportion and is more advanced than an average 5 month old too so im giving her food but im not worried about how much of it she eats, she loves rusk mashed with fruit in it and sunday roasts lol. Alyssa is about 20lb and just went into her 9-12 month clothes.

i also give her diluted fruit juice, i.e pure orange with cooled boiled water, with her meals in a soft spouted sippy cup to help her get used to drinks and to stop her getting constipated with the more solid food :)

He hold everything, and puts things in his mouth constantly, he pulls his dummy out and chews on the plasic part rather rather than the teat, He has 4-5 of 8oz bottles a day,
bottle at 8am, then back to bed for an hour.
Breakfast and bottle between 10-11
Nap
lunch and bottle 1-2
Nap
Bottle when woken (around 4-5)
then tea (jarred baby food or blended dinner) before his bath about 6-7.
Bath & bottle before bed.

He's massive (approx 20lb) and is in 6-9, 9-12 month clothes (depending where you shop)..
Think i'll jus let him have a play with some rusks. i don't have him in a high chair because he can't sit unaided yet. Hates his bumbo so no point buying a tray for that thing ! lol

I wouldn't force him at his age. It is common for babies to start weaning and then decide they aren't interested for a few weeks. Just keep offering, and at some point he will start eating again. I wouldn't try to force him to eat as meal time should be fun.

Yeah, I know what u mean, i started feeling cruel putting food in his mouth and he was spitting it and pulling a face, it felt un-natural forcing him to enjoy it, as he clearly wasn't. I think he's just decided the eating thing is just too much faff again at the mo, and has gone back to preferring his bottle.
Do you think i should put a scoop of baby rice in his bottle to make sure he's full, just that before he started weaning he was starting to wake at night again because he wasn't full long enough, I'm a bit worried it will disturb his sleeping pattern if he's getting less food again!... (more selfish reasons i know but he's a much happier baby when he sleeps)!

nah id see how he goes, give him extra milk if u need to and keep offering food. ive only just been giving alyssa food for a couple of weeks and she has breakfast and tea since sunday, shes happy to eat rice crackers, toast, breadsticks, rusk and melon as finger foods and loves her rusk mushed with fruit but if shes not enjoying something i only give her a little bit so she gets used to the flavour, she wasnt too impressed with sweet potato yesterday lol but i just give a few spoonfuls and let her decide if she wants more or not. no pressure on them to eat it now and if they get enough milk they will be fine without it
