Just had my lovely HV visit. I didnt realise it before but everytime she come she always givs us something new for Evie which i think is excellent service from the NHS. So far we've had a free fabric book, a baby toothbrush, a big tube of baby toothpaste and a tommee tippee beaker cup.
also Evie got weighed and she is 15lb 1oz , lol my little heffalump  .

Anyone else enjoy it when their HV visits?

My HV has only come to me once. I usually have to go to see her at the clinic. And she's never given me a freebie! She's nice, but really patronising. I don't know if it's because he's my first or because I'm only 22 but she has a way of talking that makes me think she think's I'm stupid.

MY HV only came to see me once also, after that I have had to go to the clinic........... see a different HV each time I go.......... if you ask each of them the same question you get 100 different answers ........ and certainly not had any freebies......

you are very lucky to have someone who can get to know you and your darling baby........... :)

I've had all those freebies too!! Maybe it is a NHS Scotland thing? I also got a huge bag with some hard baby books in it from them too.

My HV came out twice........10 days old & 6 weeks old......other than that we have to visit the clinic - & certainly no freebies :talkhand:

I might move to Scotland

Glad to hear you hve a fab HV....makes all the difference

Mines been out twice, she came out to the house today. She's so nice, we had a long talk today as I've been feeling really down and she thinks I have PND after looking at my questionnaire answers.

Theres alot that contributes me feeling this way, stuff that goes way back to my childhood and I told her everything and she listened. She made me feel like I didnt have to put up with it and that I can get help.

One of my main worries is that Im a bad mum to my two boys but she reassured me it isnt true. I felt like she was talking to me as though she really cared, not just in a professional manner.

Hmmm, never had any freebies though  :shakehead:

ive received an excellent service from the NHS too so far, my HV is lovely- :talkhand: no freebies for us tho! :) xx

I had a free room thermometer and forehead thermometer the first visit, but nothing since

may well mention your freebies to her she is coming on monday :rotfl:

I have to say she is wonderful though , she has been really supportive about me been on my own and things i have been through and she has sponsored Dylan aswell..i guess far rather than than free gifts

i just want it all :rotfl:

Now I'm even more sure about moving to Scotland! :rotfl:

I also have to go up to the clinic to see them and it's a different one each time! I'm usually told something one week and then the following week told something totally different too!

They are all lovely though! :D

Aww when I go to the clinic it is always one of two that I see and they are both lovely - I used to have a horrible one but she retired!!
And the nurse woman that does the actual weighing loves Arianna!! It's so funny Arianna gets so excited whenever she sees her!

i love my hv shes fab feel like i could talk to her about anything have had her as hv since i lost jamie and she has helped me loads and always been there for a chat when i needed her and been very helpful and understanding when ive turned into a neurotic mother since having christopher
we did get a few freebies at first (forehead room and bath thermometers and a travel changing mat) but nothing since
just found out last week she is emigrating to spain and from next week onwards we will have a new hv am worried sick now :( xxxxxxxx

Hiya

My hv is lovely too we have freebies and even though i decided to go to the clinic after Conal had been home a couple of weeks if i phone her she will come to me, she also reads Willow books when she comes and Willow looks forward to getting Conal weighed so she can see her and bring her a picture, my sister has her too so i've already told her how nice she is.

Willow's hv was lovely too we bumped into her a couple of weeks ago and she remembered her and me and met Conal it was like meeting an old friend,

so hv in the isle of man are nice too :D

Should i be worried my hv comes evry month????????

my one doesnt come to me but I have to go to the clininc ones a month for Arianna to get weighed.

I wouldnt worry!

Dont worry Mrs h my HV comes to my house every month too. She just brings her little portable scales and weighs Evie and talks about how we are getting on and then helps us with situations that should soon be arising (teething, weaning etc). The only time we have to go to a clinic is if its a drop in appointmetn or if she is getting her injections. If i have a quick question then i just have to phone them. :D

I only ever see my HV when i take Soph to get weighed at the clinic, but if i have any problems or questions i can just ring her.

Mines only been out once. I'm a bit dissapointed with ours round here. They seen Aimee when she was 8 weeks and she hasn't been seen since not even had any development checks to go to. Same with Nathan. we did get some freebies though, A ruck sack, a soft book, a book that attaches to the pram, toothpaste and brush and some music and some other stuff. I would rather have some of their time though than some free stuff.
