I had a second degree tear while having Harry sucked out of me lol. I was wondering how long it takes to heal? when will the stitches desolve?

There is no right or wrong answer here hun.

I have no idea how long my stitches took to heal - I only got the courage up to touch the area 10 weeks after my DD was born :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think it was 6 weeks before I could cough and sneeze confidently so that was when I deemed myself healed.

Everyone is different and our body's take different times to heal.
If you're worried - ask your HV but it will heal promise :D

mine dissolved within a week. im still too nervous to hav sex tho!

6 weeks before i was comfortable, my stitches didnt dissolve, had to have them pulled out after 4 weeks

I took about 8 weeks but did tear really badly. I found that salt water baths and TCP in the bath helped loads. I also made sure I used the Mothercare Maternity pads as they were the softest on my stiches.
Hope your feeling better soon. You will feel normal again soon I promise

Takes a while to be honest, agree with miracle babe about mothercare pads- essential!! Frequent baths do help. Jude is 3 months, and I've still not looked down there! :rotfl:

Aww blesws you all, i know what you mena though.I had a 2nd degree with DS and it took a good month to feel condident about walking long distances and having 'proper' sex.

so glad you asked this. i keep meaning to but forgot.

i got a 2nd degree tear too with internal and external stitches.

are you on anything for the pain? they gave me diclofenic (after hasseling them) and it seems to help alot. the only time im in real agony now tends to be in the evening, after the wear of the day and me coughing has put pressure there.

I had a 3rd or 4th degree tear/cut (in the hospital they said 4th degree, but midwife afterwards that visited me at home said 3rd degree - and it was both a cut and a tear [because they didn't cut me far enough]).

I was still sore at 6 weeks. Before that, in the weeks prior, it hurt like hell. I was in tears every time I went to the loo.

Oh i must be lucky then, mine feel fine, not sore at all. When the midwife looked at them she said i had the posh stitches. I cannot wait to have sex but not chancing it yet.

If your sore when you need to pee run a bit of water in the bath and d oit in there.
When you have a bath put some salt into it and it will dry the wound out quicker, thus making it heal all the faster

my mother kept telling me to sit in salt water but I was too terrified it would hurt even more.

DOES it hurt more or does it not make a difference?

It might sting the first couple of times but IMO it definitely helps the healing process.

I had a 3rd degree tear when i had my boy. Its been 5 weeks now and still suffer with it, although not nearly as much. I noticed one of my stitches come out only yesterday and i have felt down there and i can feel a scar on the outside.

Only advice i can give is plenty of soaks in the bath, lactulose and painkillers. declofenac didnt seem to do much for me though. Try to find something to sit on thats not solid to and dont sit to one side as you will end up with alsorts of other aches and pains due to posture.

i salt bathe mine every day, and it hasnt stung me at all. i find it quite soothing :)
