Heads up for those first timers in t1- the things the books dont tell you!!!

Bleeding for weeks after the baby? Oh my god what's that all about? and leaving the placenta in the room - how big is this thing?

Also, no lifting? My job is all about getting kids in and out of my car and the babies need carries. Surely this is ok? I appreciate any feedback I am all new to this x

hey

sorry, but no, most likely this is not ok. I was told by my doctor not to lift anything more than 3 kg. If you tell your work about you being pregnant, they should try to make adjustments to your duties so you do not need to carry anything heavy...

sorry hun

OH MY GOD!!!.... THEY LEAVE THE PLACENTA IN THERE... THAT IS DISGUSTING HAVE VISIONS OF SOMETHING FROM ALIEN SITTING IN A BOWL LOOKING AT ME!! .... OH MY GOD OH MY GOD....
and WHATS WITH THE BLEEDING FOR MONTHS TOO???
OH MY GOD....
MEN REALLY DO HAVE IT EASY.....
I AM SOOOOOOOO FREAKED OUT RIGHT NOW!!!!

My midwife took my placenta away immediately to check it in another room x

Oh thats just as bad... some weirdo nurse rummaging through my placenta!!! ahhhh!!!
The visions going through my head right now!!!
OH MY GOD!!!!
Dont think i should read this thread any more!!!

had it in my head for some reason that the baby comes out all covered in gunk.... but never thought about me!! Eurrrgghhh!!

She wasn't some weirdo nurse, she was my lovely midwife!

I only bled for a couple weeks last time, just a really heavy period, but no tampons allowed!
Poppet poodle - I think you can lift if your used to it, just be more careful, otherwise how do pregnant women with toddlers not pick them up? Health and safety gone mad these days, I'm still at the gym lifting weights, ok lighter weights though! check with work though as they might have policies and regulations to stop you lifting above a certain weight.

OMG I really am sooo sorry if i've scared anyone :hugs:

I know its harsh but its the honest truth, I was rather shocked by these things (geniunely) so maybe its better to be pre-warned

I really don't mean to scaremonger though - it will be absolutely fine, and you'll be too busy staring at your amazing new baby (coz the fact that you have that little bundle totally makes up for the other things)

Yes the placenta is like an alien being, I was horrified when they told me it was still in there...I was only starting to get my breath back, they can give you a hand to pull it out if you know what I mean, but it was around the same size as my baby. Dont know why it was left in the room for so long, such an amazing sight. loool

And yeah the bleeding is like the worst period you've ever had that lasts for weeks, theres also alot of pain down there so the blood comes from cuts ect as well as your insides (sorry tmi) Was pretty shocked at the recovery period to be fair. I wont go into gory details of how bad the pain is, as i said...its all worth it, i'm sure the other ladies who've been thro it all will agree!

:)
