head hugger in car seats or silvercross ventura car seat use

Hi, this may sound silly but when do u stop using the head hugger in the carseat?
my LO looks uncomfortable in it now as his head just about fits in it. im using the one that comes with the silvercross ventura carseat which i think is quite small. can u buy the head huggers seperatly? or did u just stop using one after a couple of months? or is it dangerous for him to be in the carseat without one? he is about 15ibs now.
any suggestions would be great . thanks

We removed ours about a month ago because Ella looked too squashed up. She was about 12lbs then and had good head control.
