Hi everyone, just desperately seeking some advise please. My LO's 3 weeks old now and for the past couple of days he's been so miserable and constantly crying, he only stops when i put him to the breast. i've checked all the usual including temperature and all is fine. He is quite a sicky baby but i was told that was normal. I'm getting worried now that he's unwell along with being shattered as he's not sleeping at all in the night and not even as much as normal in the day. I can't have him constantly on my breast surely. I've heard him sneeze a couple of times so i'm wondering whether he's got a cold i just feel so helpless :(

Oh hun, I am sorry. It sounds like it is probably colic.

We found holding Ellie upright helped some. Also stroking her tummy downwards, and then clockwise helped, followed by folding her legs upto her chest 3 times and repeating.

I was going to say it sounds like colic hun, if you go to the chemist pick up something called colief its9.99 but apparently it is fantastic, it could be why hes being quite sicky aswell if hes got if he might nbe trying to bring it up himself causing him to be sick. theres also infacol which is quite good and only a couple of quid but iv heard colief is really good and safe from birth hope hes ok now hun bless him

Colief was on of the few ones I didn't try. Mainly because you need to mix it with milk to feed to them and I was breastfeeding combined with the fact that infacol, the denitox one and gripe water didn't make any difference I had given up on medication.

Thankyou, both really helpful. I'll go to the chemist tomorrow, hope it works

babyjay i just think hes still establishing his breastfeeding pattern chick.
are you letting him stop at the breast for as long as he wants to?
At three weeks its quite normal for babies to frequently feed.
Before getting colicy stuff contact your health visitor or better still a la leche councellor to ask for advice.

I don't think its colic. Try relaxing and sitting with a film on the tv and ffeding him. Don't worry if you think hes feeding a lot babies do in the first six weeks. you're doing great
