I am suffering with hayfever atm, more so at night... I have been told that any eyedrops are ok and prevalin nasal spray, but it's not strong enough - I still want to gouge my eyes out!! HELP!

Go to the doctor. You have to be very careful what you take. As new hayfever medicine has not been tested for saftey in pregnancy. Iv been using vasaline round my nose, and a Lloyd light therapy thing for your nose, and it's actually worked.

I was told by my MW nothing has been classed safe to use. So I just stick to Vaseline etc

Using tapatalk so excuse the typos!

All I have got is a nasal spray which is just supposed to trap the pollen- there is basically nothing in it though so I may just as well spray water up my nose!!

I normally have to have a prescription from the docs for eyes drops, nasal spray and tablets for about 2 months straight. Have to say so far this year it hasn't been as bad as I normally get it which is lucky, as MW said it cn get a lot worse wehn you are preggers!

My doc prescribed me tablets, so its worth asking, I've still been quite snivelly, but not as bad as if I was to be taking nothing for it!

i used this balm on my nose it helps reduce the pollen count getting into your respiratory system and its totally natural xx stopped my eyes watering from sneezing all the time too

They say a spoonful of locally produced honey daily helps. Not sure if it works though.
My daughter has bad hayfever and the best things Ihave found for her are New Era homeopathic tablets for hayfever and allergic rhinitis. They are tiny capsules that dissolve on your tongue and they work brilliantly for her. You get them in Boots and Holland and Barretts. Fairly certain they are safe for use in pregnancy, but you should probably check first if you want to give them a try.
She also uses the light therapy, which I think helps, but not completely sure.

Hello I suffered with hayfever for ages, I now reduce dairy products as much as possible during hayfever season and eat normally in the rest of the year. I was on lots of medication and still very uncomfortable but on the low dairy diet I don't think I have had one tab this year (or eye drop or nose drops). Best of luck hope it works for you also.

I suffer really bad, asked the doctor and she said there was no case study saying it was ok but no case study saying it was bad.
My theory is some people smoke/drink/ on drugs through out there pregnancy and still end up with a healthy baby( most cases).

If you have always taken the medication your body will be used to it and if you don't feel 100% without taking the medication..... Is your body and baby going to be 100%!

IF you relied on a type of tablet that you took that was going to keep you alive but it said in the leaflet "do not take if pregnante" would you stop?

Medication leaflets have to cover themselves by saying don't take them. :)

as long as you don't over do it I would say your fine taking half ever tablets :)

Thanks for all your messages!! I am writing this through streaming eyes!!! All of the above is going on my shopping list for tomorrow!! Off to google light therapy as I have never heard of it. Thank you do much. Xxx

I spoke in length with my GP about the harm of my hayfever meds, and I've had a nurse and my OB check since. I am on sodium cromoglicate eyedrops andBeclometasone nasal spray, both of which are safe to use. We discussed antihistamines and I decided against them, even though I was told that some are 'probably' safe, there had been no tests. However I suffer from severe food allergies, which can come on all of a sudden, and so am still carrying some for that, after all, if I'm dead, I can't carry a baby.

I have heard that LOCAL natural honey is great, for the first time today I saw some for sale by be....but I can't try it because of the diabetes :(

I have every sympathy with you. My natural antihistamines have kicked in great during pregnancy (I had no hayfever with my DD), but my hayfever is still annoying, giving me a terrible bad chest and like you I want to gorge my eyes out on regular occasions.

Hope you find something to help x

If you cut down on the dairy specially cheese you should see an improvement in 24 hours.. Might save some money if it works as well as it did for me.
Best of luck

I eat very little dairy, I don't drink milk, I dont like cheese, in fact I can't think of any dairy I consume - but I have suffered hideously with hayfever my whole life. I don't think the dairy thing works for everyone, well it certainly doesn't for me.
As for the local honey, you have to start this early, before the hayfever season kick in. It needs to build up in your system. I tried that last year and it had little effect for me x

No sadly not everyone will benefit from not eating dairy but I was so improved I just thought I would share information. It is so easy to see if your are one of those people whose hay fever is triggered by dairy it will be obvious in a day could be worth a try. I have to be a little more strict then a friend of mine who can still put milk in his tea.
Best of luck

Been and got the honey, and now having a mini panic attack about giving up cheese!!!! Xxx
