Having a sweep - did it work for you?

I posted about my biff baby in third tri yesterday Explains just how big they reckon already

Anyways, my homebirth MW has said she is happy to give me a sweep when I reach term (37 weeks) to see if it will get things moving.

If you ladies had a sweep (or two or more) did you find they worked and if so how far along were you when you had them?

If I am going to try at 37 weeks I'd like to think there is some hope it might work and I can deliver LO before getting any biffier

I had 2 sweeps with Arianna and they did nothing for me, I still had to get induced.

I lost my plug at about 37wks, had a sweep at 39wks, then another at 40wks and ended up getting induced and delivering Arianna at term +13

Good luck tho - I am hoping you get your home birth (brave lady!)

i had a sweep at 40 weeks, but my waters had already broken so i think he was on his way anyway. but i did start getting contractions a few hours after that

I had 3 attempted sweeps but my cervix was tightly closed so I ended up being induced

I had a sweep with Nathans and I was 40+3. I felt different as soon as I had it done and was getting period type pains after it for about 24 hours then my waters broke. He was born another 24 hours after that.

my midwife tried to do it on my due date (with hannah) but said i wasnt ready yet
I did go into labour 2 days after tho

I had a sweep at 40 + 6 and was induced at 40 + 8. xxx

i had two.... well, attempted.. as my cervix wasn't favourable

When I had Jamie I had an attempted one but cervix was closed and had to be induced 4 days later.

Had one today and it works.

I had a sweep at 38+5 and it worked for me!

I went into labour about 4 hours later.

My cervix was soft and i was 1cm dilated so the doc was able to do the sweep very effectively!

I attribute my ready and wiiling cervix to using oil of evening primrose on my cervix 2 or 3 times a day! Did the trick for me anyway!

(I was like you...mahoosive baby...10lb 20z so boy was i glad i didnt go term!!!!)

I had a sweep at 37+6. I was 1-2cms, with bulging waters and went into labour the next day. Hope it works for you, hun
