Do you set an amount or just think its only once a year?

We normally just say its only once a year but i think this year with a new baby we will be looking a setting a budget for family and friends presents x x

We don't normally do presents! We just have lots of lovely food and drink :) but so far I've bought loads of bits that I don't know whether they are birthday or Christmas gifts :/

We do £20 each with the grown ups (there is quite a few still) but kids get spoilt. My little one wont be here till jan (hopefully anyway) but he is going to get a beautiful handmade toy box!!!
xxxx

50 quid max on the girls, last year I did both birthdays and Xmas at just under £100 I think :smug: adults, 20quid max, probs more on OH! I'm such s tight arse!

My husband is terrible with budgets we set last year a budget of £100 for each of us but he spent double that grrr. We both have a sister so we spend £50 each on them and then £40 each for parents and we usually take them out for dinner. We don't have a massive family so we can afford to spend this money. I think in the future it'll change though x

I did not know this bit existed yet!!!!
Usually my brother and sisters get £20 each and their kids get £40, my mom and dad would get £50 each. But thus year we totally can't afford it so were not doing presents, apart from my mom and mil and the kids will all get something little but special to them.. Most of the money will bespent on Aiden and me and Lee have a £20 limit each. It's gonna be a weird one this year, great cos it's Aidens first but crap cos it's first without my dad, lack of money on top of that is just even worse!

This is a MASSIVE bone of contention with me and David and the outlaws!!! (His side)

I have 31 nieces and nephews so being so many we only get them till they are 16!

His side there are 4 nieces and nephews and his sister thinks we should keep buying them baring in mind they are 19 and 22 left home and have partners!

His sister still expected us to buy them easter eggs till last year when we said no! Again that all stops on my side at 16 coz theres so many!

So this year having Matilda, we are saying NO to the over 16's on both sides and we decided to not buy for the adults two years ago as they stipulated we 'had' to put £20.00 in each others cards....whats the point of exchanging £20.00's! So its going to hit the fan this year but tough!

And on the younger kids its also expected that we put £20.00 in a card...we arnt allowed to just buy them something that we want to get them....its really starting to annoy me so that may change too!!!

I know I may sound twisty about this whole subject but Id much rather if they are buying our girls that they surprise them with something thoughtfull rather than just shoving money in a card!

Mum £50
Rest of adults £20
And cousins nieces nephews £20

We have quite a lot to get I think on family we spent £400 last year

We don't get each other
Monty and dolly about £500 each
And herbie about £150

I have £10 each for my parents and sister and her fiance. Then I think £50 on Paige and £5 each on her 2 cousins. Im hosting xmas this year so theyll be little table presents and obviously all the food so Im not spending as much as I normally would.

It sounds tight when I write it down  But Ill have to start buying stuff next month to make sure I can afford it. To save money Paige will be getting people handmade things for their tree.
