Have not posted for a while...scan at 17.5 weeks??

Hi Girls,

Have not had a question or a moan for a while now so......

I am having my "20 week scan" on Friday at 17.5 weeks!?! Is this abnormal or not? Will they be able to see everything they want to see at this stage (I suppose so or they would not have made the appointment so early)...Anyone else had their second scan as early as this?

Hummm its defo early I had mine at 19 weeks I think perhaps its a good thing though means they arnt really crammed for space. I would say they could check everything they need to if they had booked you that early. Hope it all goes well

No panic then (don't know why it is a reason to panic though -nothing has happened!)

You are right about the room - probably be able to see more....

Have they said why? I know that there is a baby boom going on at the mo so maybe they just have to put you in where they can, im sure you will be serviced the same as if you were a few weeks forward. Good luck with it!

No, they have not said why - the appointment came through a couple of weeks ago after my 12 (or in my case 13) week scan.

Perhaps there are just alot of people having babies and it is the only time they could fit me in!?!

when they booked our 2nd scan it was initially at 16.5 weeks until the midwife noticed & she got it changed so it was closer to 20 weeks (we went at 19 weeks in the end). if they cant see everything they need then there is always the possibility that you will have to go back again & that would mean more scans which is never bad

hmmm, that is odd but saying that i had mine at 23wks so diff hospitals do it differently, my baby couldnt even fit on the screen lmao !

Yes - would love to have another scan as well as my 17.5 week scan!! Never thought that they might ask me back!

And yes, we probably will see more at an earlier date cos there is more room - 23 weeks is late! I suppose, like you said, different hospitals have different ways of doing it....

Oh well, will find out soon...
