I can't believe my gorgeous baby girl is almost a week old
Went in last week to be induced after being 12 days overdue and I was gutted as I knew my chances of having a water birth were out of the window.
At 11.00 I had the pessary inserted, by 11.30 was having 5 contractions in 10 minutes, all round my back. So it was back on the monitors as this was a bit too extreme and they were worried baby would get distressed. They said they might have to take it out if the contractions wouldn't calm down. Baby was completely fine, so they left it in for 4 hours of back to back contractions before checking me.
When they internally examined me I was only 1-2cm, which I had already been on the Monday at my sweep! So frustrating, all that discomfort for nothing! So pessary came out (apparently some women have a hyper-sensitive reaction?!)
They decided to take me to delivery and break my waters, but warned me I might need to go on the drip to get productive contractions going and to expect it to be a while to get from 2 to 10 cm.
They broke my waters and again, back to back contractions, but this time more regular, round the front and getting stronger each time so I got on the gas and air. I told them after 3 hours I felt the need to push- they nicely told me it was highly unlikely but agreed to internally examine me- fully dilated! She was born half an hour later! So so happy! Didn't get my water birth but still magical, I pushed her out on all fours on just gas and air
She was 8lb 13oz of pure beautifulness, really couldn't be happier! Had a 2nd degree tear and stitches, had to stay in 2 nights because of blood loss- it was all worth it, honestly girls don't stress about what might happen because as soon as that baby is in your arms nothing else matters.
