Has anyone had success introducing formula at 25 weeks?

I would like to slowly start introducing formula to my lo. She was initially topped up with formula due to slow weight gain for the first six weeks but then refused the bottle. Since then she has only gained about 2oz a week and is only 12.5lbs at almost six months. She is slowly figuring out her sippy cup now too. I am just wondering if anyone else successfully got there lo to take formula at this age? I still want to bf for her night feeds until she is 12 months, but would like to switch to formula for her daytime feeds. It is partially to see if she will be more satisfied, and partially because I always wanted to slowly take her off the breast. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do it? Thanks! Xx

I started introducing formula at 23 weeks with the aim of stopping breastfeeding. My lo took to formula immediately and is sleeping more and seems far more satisfied. I still cant get her to drink out of anything but a bottle but now weaning and keep trying with her sippy cup.

I have been gradually dropping a breastfeed every 4/5 days and replacing it with formula. My lo now roughly has:

7am breastfeed
9/10 am bottle
12/1 bottle
3pm bottle
6/7pm breast

It is still work in progress though

Hi hun! Yes, we managed it! Exclusively bf for 5.5 months, gradually switched to formula ( changed one feed every 4-5 days) until we were at 2 bottles and 2 bf a day, and 1-2 bf at night. Then moved up to 3 bottles a day, 1 bf, then bf at night. Then LO dropped night feed on his own at around 7 months. I carried on with 1 bf a day until 8 months when he pretty much weaned himself off it! I do have to say we never had issues with bottles from early on, but I was v nervous as he'd never had formula- but he took it no problem at all! Good luck hun xxx
