hi again girlies!
im sat here looking on the net to see if i can find a nice pram!
its proberly way to early but im one of these people that cant wait lol!
i want a black/grey with purple on it!! does anyone know of anywhere i could find one?
have any of you got your prams yet?

Yes I got mine from Mothercare, they are holding it for us.

Its the Urban Detour Sherpa Travel System, its been discontinued now.

Being as skint as i am i have to wait till i'm 29 weeks and get my sure start grant to i get my pram. Good job really cos i've got no where to put it anyway.

Dont you only qualify for a Sure Start Grant if you get Income Support?

I didnt think it had anything to do with working? Perhaps im wrong lol

i think you can get it if your working for 25 weeks after you got pregnant or if your on JSA any benifits really! but i might be wrong lol!

We dont get any of the benefits below so im assuming we cant get it, although I will have been working for 25 weeks hmmmm

Maternity grant
Coping with the extra costs of a new baby can be difficult, especially if you’re on a low income. There’s a grant to help you give your baby a positive start in life. It’s called the Sure Start Maternity Grant.

The grant is made from the Social Fund and you do not have to pay it back. The Sure Start Maternity Grant is available from the Department of Work and Pensions.

Who can get the grant?
You can get a Sure Start Maternity Grant if you or your partner are getting:

Income Support
Income based Jobseeker's Allowance
Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit which includes an amount higher that the family element or
Working Tax Credit where a disability or severe disability element is included in the award.
How do I claim?
You can claim a Sure Start Maternity Grant on form SF100 Sure Start, which you can get from your local Jobcentre Plus office.

Maternity Allowance

If you cannot get Statutory Maternity Pay and have been in recent work (including from self employment) you may be able to claim Maternity Allowance.


How much will I get?
Allowance is paid for 26 weeks and is worth up to 90% of your earnings or £108.85 a week (whichever is less).


How do I claim?
Contact Jobcentre Plus for a claim form.

When you have filled in the claim form, return it with medical evidence of when the baby is due and any other information required.


What if I am not entitled?
Even if you cannot get Maternity Allowance you may be able to get other benefits such as:

i think you can get your sure start maternity grant if your reciving maternity allowance it says something at the top about it! x

Ive asked the other girls in 'Ask A Mum' what they think.

Obviously if you claim Maternity Allowance and can get it if you do then im going to apply but I was sure it was only if your on benefits.

Thats my pram, I got it from a mate second hand and washed the covers and gave it a good wipe down and it looks brand new I'm made up with it
