I'm probably over thinking things but has anyone had any experience with dying hair when pregnant? I've booked in for mine doing at my salon next week, I'll be 16 weeks. I have very dark brown hair and blonde highlights from last year and want to go for a red ombre style. I've decided against bleaching to give a vibrant red but I'm still panicking lol! I've been feeling really shitty so far this pregnancy and really need a pick me up.
I know hundreds of pregnant ladies dye their hair but I'm such a worrier, I panicked last night after eating half a tub of Ben and Jerry's cookie dough ice cream

I'd say you'll be fine. I've always heard salon hair dye is fine is pregnancy and generally to wait until 2nd tri
By the way Ben & Jerrys is perfectly safe for pregnant women so go to town on it haha xx

They do recommend a patch test when pregnant. Not because there is any risk to dyeing your hair for baby but because your skin changes when pregnant and therefore you could react to the dye.

Other than that enjoy having new hair style and try not to panic about the little stuff.

Oh yeah I totally agree with that! The salon should do that for you though.

I always patch test anyway because I sometimes get a mild reaction. I'm not dying my hair this pregnancy I should mention. I've had hives on and off with no known cause of allergy, so for me I've been told not to, just incase, with not knowing what my issue is. I did with my daughter with no issues

In general it's usually fine though. It can be hard enough being pregnant. And sometimes things like doing your nails or hair can help you to feel more like yourself again

Agreed with the girls I’ve dyed mine all way through this pregnancy and I’m 30 weeks I asked my Midwife first and she said it’s fine nothing to worry about xx

Thanks everyone. They did the patch test this morning and so far everything seems fine. I really need to stop worrying, I never worried this much with my almost 7 year old lol! I guess it's just with being high risk due to age (36) and high BMI. Thanks again, I'm looking forward to Monday even more now  xx
