I've read everywhere that you're supposed to be careful of certain hair colourants.
But I see lots of pregnant people with obviously dyed hair..

Anyone know if its actually safe or wether there are certain products to stay away from?

I'm glad you asked this as i have some serious grey coming through and did not dare dye my hair lol

I had the same concerns and spoke to my hairdresser before getting highlights about three weeks back. She said what she was doing to my hair was safe as she uses a cap and so the bleach doesnt touch my scalp. I cant answer for other hair dyes or full head dyeing etc x

I had this dilemma, if its foils or cap then its fine, but if its an all over dye your wanting to do then alot of the internet and my hairdresser advised me to wait until ater 12 weeks as baby is going though a critical growing and forming stage, think i was about 17 week swhen i first dyed mine. Also remember theres alot of hormone changes so the colour might not go as planned x

I had full head colour at my salon at 15wks...I checked with my hairdressers the dye was safe to use in pregnancy. I think the NHS website says wait until after 12 wks. My hairdressers said was fine unless there was any open wounds or scratches on your head that the due could get in.

Thank you all for the replies!
Was seriously starting to worry that I'd have to wait until October to colour my hair again!

Thanks also for mentioning the hormone changes, I hadn't thought of that

My friend is a hairdresser and she said regarding all over dye she would wait until after 12 weeks and even then make sure you get a hair colour with no ammonia as it is much less harmful! Im waiting until after 12 weeks but its so hard as these roots are awful but baby saftey is more important so ill man up lol!! xxxx

I'll wait until twelve weeks also then the dye will be out lol! Plus it'll be nice to be all blooming and looking gorg for the announcement! Xx

Hi hun I waited till last week to dye mine, but the best one I found is the garnier nutrisse foam the colour took perfectly and so far hormones haven't changed it, and it was super easy to do myself (I normaly get SIL to do it but did this one fine, I normally get it everywhere and miss patches!) And these don't contain amonia which is brill xxx
