So I’m 22 weeks pregnant with my second baby and have a small haemorrhoid.

My first pregnancy I didn’t have anything like this. This one has been lingering since the birth of my first (20 months) it’s very small and is only sometimes noticeable. It’s usually more like a little skin tag? So I’ve never thought of it as an issue really.

I’ve had a bit of constipation thus far in this pregnancy which is why I’m presuming it’s now worse. It is sometimes large and swollen after I’ve been to the toilet but after a couple of hours shrinks right back down again to hardly anything.

The issue for me really though is (...so sorry if tmi) it really itches! I’m getting a super itchy butthole which is so embarrassing and uncomfortable. I also don’t feel as ‘clean’ down there as I should. I’m presuming they are related.

Does anyone have experience of this? What can I do for relief??
Thank you ladies x

Hey Kitty, I completely feel your pain! I’ve had them for the past few weeks and I’m only now 14 weeks. I’d never had them before so was really thrown but am now getting used to the little pests. I find using the moisture toilet tissues you can get really helps and I also use germaloid cream twice a day. You can get it over the counter in most shops and it’s safe in pregnancy, my midwife recommended it. If it gets really bad, a cold compress over the area can also provide relief.

It’s definitely one of the side effects of pregnancy that no-one prepares you for! I hope you find some relief soon x

Thank you so much. I’ll try the germalene tomorrow! Definitely not something I was prepared for. Just another little joy of pregnancy!

I have this. I think it was a present from the birth of my daughter :( I asked the gp to check it at my 6 week check and she said it can happen after you’ve given birth and the skin tag is left after the pushing/straining part. I don’t think it’s a pile though? Having said that mine isn’t particularly itchy - unless it needs some attention in terms of a clean (gosh this is so glamourous innit? )

I’m sorry to report mine hasn’t gone away after nearly 6 years :( though the moist toilet tissues help so I always have some of those handy.

No worries, I hope it helps! Just to clarify the cream is called germaloids, as I know there is another cream with a similar name, but this one is safe in pregnancy x

Argh! 6 years!
It’s driving me insane because I’m a really obsessively clean person. I have two showers a day and I’m currently cleaning that ‘area’ with soap and water and properly drying after I’ve been to the loo (whenever possible) but something just doesn’t feel right. I know that by know I shouldn’t be embarrassed about going to the doctors but there’s something a little unnerving about asking someone to look at your asshole :eh:
