Really enjoyed it. It lasted from 11am - 3.30pm with about a half hour for lunch and a couple of tea breaks.
There were 7 couples in total and everyone was really nice. The lady running the course was fab.
Did quite a bit. Firstly the group was split into 2 and one group was given paper and pen and told to make a list of things to do with labour and birth, and the other group were told to make a list of things regarding once the baby is here. We then swapped and added to it. Then the ladies were spilt from the men. The men had to do up a list of what to do to be prepared for when they get the phonecall that labour is happening / they need to get home.
The girls had to do up a list of signs that labour is starting.
We were then shown how to do breathing,..this was fun as it meant we got to use bottles of kiddies bubbles
We also did different birthing positions and massage techniques for the birthing partners to do.
She went through the stages of labour, if its a straight forward one. We also talked about pain relief and induction.
She also went through a worst case scenario labour. So induced labour with every pain relief under the sun and then forceps and if that didnt work etc. it was just a way to show us what could happen.
Then there were other bits about how you can naturally try to induce labour, the research behind them etc.
At the end she read a lovely birth story of someone who did one of her classes.
Have to say we both really enjoyed it
We have a two session on Tuesday evening which will talk about the difference between midwife led deliveries and doctor plus midwife led and the different hospitals in our area
