Just gave baby a bath and noticed his belly button was a bit swollen, I thought maybe his op scar was sore so was going to put some sudocrem on it, it appears that one of his internal stitches is coming through the scar, their meant to be dissolvable.

I'm not happy, I am going to book a doctors appointment tomorrow but I wondered if any of you knew how long it takes for dissolvable stitches to dissolve there is nothing concrete online.

I've covered it in a plaster for now so it doesn't rub and catch, poor kid as been through enough grrrrrr

I think depending on what they are made of it's up to 10 days. Poor little pickle xxxxxxxx

Oh dear, no help from me in afraid. Just hope it's ok x

I had dissolvable stiches after keyhole surgery last November. They lasted ages!! About 4weeks I think. Defo see your Doctor if it's breaking through the skin. Hope he's ok x

after my section i had an internal stich come through same when i had my appendix out with my section it was painfull snd doc took it out with a pair of tweezers which amazingly diddnt hurt and my appendix one didnt hurt so i left it but that took neay a year before i was able to pull it out im not sure why they came through or why they didnt dissolve xx

So we went to the docs and she said to just keep an eye on it and it should dissolve on its own...

Not sure I like that answer but what can I do?

Xxx

Maybe give it a week and if it's not gone tell the gp it's irritating him and he keeps worrying it. I would have thought they could just nip off the bit that's sticking out

stitches can disolve anything from 2 - 6 weeks is wat we tell our patients at work...

xxx
