Good Afternoon Ladies!!
Just got in after my trip to the Antenatal Clinic at my local hospital! As i'm sure many of you know my MW was concerned as I was measuring 38cm at just 34 weeks... Also that baby is in breech position!
We went in on Tues for a consultant to also measure me and check position and confirmed that my MW was correct. I was told to come back for a growth scan.
Well, me and OH got there and after waiting for only 10mins (new world record for York District I think!) we got called through by the sonographer. Now if anyone remembers my experience when I had my 20 week scan you'll remember my rant about how much of a stuck up cow the sonographer was...? Well we had her again today...although she was in a surprisingly good mood! Maybe she got some last night
I dunno, but she even slipped us a free scan pic of baby's face! Hehe! Maybe my complaint had some effect after all!
After she'd finished we waited for an appointment with another consultant. We were told by her that baby's approx weight at the moment is 6lb 10oz
A little larger for 35+2 but not MASSIVE! She then went on to explain what they can do with a breech baby. They can either try to turn baby (ECV) or book me in for a section at 39 weeks. We of course opted for the ECV initially.
So, i'm back next Wed for my ECV! I've got to take a tablet to relax my womb and after 20mins the consultant will try and man-handle my bump and spin baby around - they constantly montior baby's heartrate and scan to see where baby is
This apparently has a 50% success rate however if it doesn't work and baby turns back, they'll try again one more time before offering a section at 39 weeks.
