I am 38 weeks and been to the midwifes today. On my chart i am actually lower than my last measurement which was at 34 weeks as she forgot to plot my measurement at 36 weeks! I am still in the normal range but now on the bottom line. I was above the top line to start. The midwife didn't seem concerened, but said that its best to have a scan just to be sure so i am going tomorrow lunch. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this so late on in pregnancy.

Thanks in advance ladies

X

i was on the bottom line 2 weeks ago now baby has had such a growth spurt and shes nearer the top line! i wouldnt worry if midwife was happy?

Yes. I had a 3rd trimester scan because my measurement was off by 1cm! It was actually really nice to see baby again, and they checked the placenta and amniotic fluid too. Midwife said not to worry, it's a new policy. They used to allow a couple of cm either way but not anymore.

Measurementz by the midwives can be pretty hit and miss. I am having extra growth scans anyway and baby is estimated just over 10th percentile yet the last time I was measured I came out as over the 90th percentile. It was done by a student midwife tho. Too many variables with just a tape measure.

Hope the scan goes ok and puts your mind at ease. X

Thanks ladies. I am just worried as my measurement has actually gone down. The midwife didn't seem worried and wasn't even going to send me for a scan until I said it has gine down, that can't be normal. Got my scan tomorrow lunch si I will update you then. X

I have been having growth scans every 6 weeks and I have my next one at 36 that being said if I make I to 36 weeks but so far I have measure above the average and placing baby about 1 1/2 pounds above her gestation. Nothing wrong with her but I wasn't sure on my dates from the beginning and then when I got to 28 weeks she's stepped up her growth. In my opinion its all very estimated as you can't really assume baby's weight until baby's actually weighed but when I was in labour with Annabel and they said I measure 3 weeks below her dates...it 27 rather than 30, when I have birth at 34+ weeks, this reflected in her weight and came out as 3lbs 14oz so slightly under weight. X

This baby is now measured over 5lbs and possibly 5 1/2 now x

Fundal height measurements are way too inaccurate.

How much you've eaten, how much fluid is there at the time, how accurate the MW is, and how baby is laying can all make a difference.

I have growth scans every two weeks because she's gonna be small.

I had growth scans with DS, and they told me that if he made it to term he'd be around 9lb.

He was born on his due date at exactly 6lb.

I'm sure everything will be fine hon xx

My last measurement pre birth at 39+5 was 36cm, baby arrived a week later a healthy 8lb 1oz. That being said, I measured 2cm below throughout my pregnancy for my son and he had to be induced and then dragged out of me at 42+2 and only weighed a tiny 6lb 4oz. The FH measurements really don't give you any real idea on what's going on in there!

I haven't experienced going down but at my 31 week appointment last week I only measured 28 and was sent for a growth scan.
I pretty much dropped off my chart but scan put me right back on the 50th centile line.
I did a looooot of googling and literally every story I read said the same.
I'm not sure why they measure tummies, it doesn't seem overly accurate at all.
Hope your scan goes well.x

Update ladies. All fine. Baby is far from small. Estimated weight now is 7lbs 8! They said all fine but my bpd measurememt on my form off the scale. That has me worried now! There is always something! X
