When is this supposed to happen? I actually have never even heard of this until being on here :S should my MW have said anything bout it? x

ask at your next mw appointment, they are most effective between 35 and 37 weeks from what i've been told. My midwife didn't mention it at all, I had to ask her, they aren't done routinely in my area.

They are done routinely in Guernsey at our 36 week antenatal clinic xxx

There was a thread a couple of days ago about it in this part of the forum. Lots of areas don't do it so you might need a private test. Best done between 35 and 37 weeks you can read up on this link if you want to http://www.gbss.org.uk

Lauren if youre in Northern Ireland they dont offer them routinely here. My friend however was showing symptoms of it and they found out she had it and gave her antibotics. But they usually wait until the baby is born to see if it has it. However I'll be demanding they do one or else Ill pay for a private one as baby's have been known to die from it :( xxx

I'd heard it was life threatening to the baby as well, so why the bloody hell dont they do it here?! Makes me so angry :@ they dont do the downs test either. I had swabs done a few days ago when I thought my waters had broke - do you think they'll find it if I have it? xx

I wouldn't rely on that, maybe speak to midwife and see what they tested for. Thing is best time to do it is 35-37 weeks anyway, maybe get one of the free test kits anyway ready, it's about £30 when you send it back to be tested.

You don't get routinely tested in my area either, but I was talking to the MW about it a few appointments back and she said we could do a swab...............got my appointment this afternoon for all the usual checks and swab too. It's def worth asking and see what they say xx
