Can't believe my baby girl is finally here. I apologise in advance for any spelling mistakes or if it doesn't make sense lol we only got out of hospital yesterday and have not slept at all really.
Grace Ava Kirkpatrick was born 15th september, at 6.54pm weighing 8lbs 5ozs. 5 days early...good girl
Saturday 14th Sept
In the morning had a show and started getting mild period pains and back ache, kept easing off. At about 7pm i noticed they were coming a little more regular but still very mild. Midnight comes and i suggest me and oh try and get some sleep. He already in panic mode by now says it's a silly idea and we need to phone midwife. I know it's to soon but ring anyway. Told to time coontractions till there about 5 to 10 mins apart and coming every 3- 5 mins. My brother brings my mum over in case it all starts kicking off quick. Then comes a loooong night of irregular pains and back ache.
Sunday 15th Sept
My brother goes home and at 8am we all decide to try and sleep. I nod off on settee for about an hour. At 9am i wake up to painful contraction and back ache. I decide to let mum and oh keep sleeping and start timing the contractions. By 10am they were coming every 10mins for about 40 seconds and they started getting intense. Woke mum and oh up and we timed them for another half hour. They kept on coming and knew it was time. Oh called triage and we were told to make our way down. My dad came over quickly to look after my son.
Got to triage, had all my checks done and was told i was 5cm got taken to delivery suite. Went straight for the gas and air. Was about 1pm by this time and midwife thought baby would arrive before her shift ended at 2.30pm. No such luck... Had two lovely midwives take over ( one student) and was managing on g&a still. At about 5pm i was 8cm. Pain was really quite awful by then. Midwife asked if i wanted any more pain relief, i said no, why i don't know as i could of really done with something but was so high on g&a that didn't know what the hell was going on lol. At 5.45pm i started getting the urge to push. Was checked and was almost fully dilated, just a tiny bit of cervix in the way. so had to breathe through quite a few contractions, which was the hardest thing to do. It came to the point where i had to push so midwife told me to go for it. They had to cut me a little to help baby's head. Was was to shattered by then i really didn't think i could push anymore but found strength when midwife said we don't want doctors coming to take over and baby wants out now. At 6.54pm baby Grace was born and started crying straight away. Delivered placenta quickly and my gross oh took a photo of it yuk lol I was a bit oblivious what was going on but i was bleeding heavily for quite a while. They managed to calm it down and then i had stitches. Oh and my mum were having cuddles whilst this was going on. I have to say it is the most horrendous yet exciting, exhilirating experience. I had forgotten alot of what it was like as my son is 12, so felt like i was experiencing it for the first time and for my oh it is his first biological child.
We are over the moon with her, Josh is taking a little while to get used to her but as we only came out of hospital yesterday it's early days. It's his birthday today and was panicing she would arrive on same day but my good baby girl decided to come early
Anyway i am just babbling now but want to say thank you to everyone on here, been a great support and really got my through the 9 months of pregnancy and hope to share and support each other through the next part. So see you all in baby section xxxxxxx
