:( Over the past week been getting really bad shooting pains in my boobs, during a feed and after. Was that bad last night I nearly gave her a bottle

Health visitor come out today and said I have thrush but its weird that Olivia hasnt got any signs of it  so got to watch her over the week.

Never knew you could have thrush there until Budge mentioned it the other week, heard of mastitis but not thrush :?

oh no hun, nightmare!!!!!!! I had this, it hurts so bad. But the good news is that it clears up pretty quickly with treatment. Try and eat a low sugar diet for a while as that can increase the thrush. Thrush can be symptomless i either mum or baby but both need to be treated otherwise you just pass it back and forth. Hope it clear soon

:( So do I, Hv said I should feel it subside pretty quickly but keep doing it for 10 days.

She hasnt given me anything for Olivia :| she said its not evident and can't give me anything for her as she can't see it in her mouth.

Im just going to round in circles with this, arnt I

hmmm that is odd. Seren never had any signs but she had a gel anyway. I would perhaps ask her about the fact that it might be being passed back and forth.

Well shes coming out again next thurs, if it hasnt subsided before then ill give her a ring if not ill metion it too her on thurs.

It is abit strange that she didnt but she wasnt sure I definatly had thrush, she had to ask her Bf consultant for a second opinion at the hv's center and she said I did have it.

Hmm I will give it till monday actualy and then give her a call and ill kepp an eye on Olivia.

aww tasha
buba need medication too otherwise it will never clear up as it will be passed to and from each other.

also avoid caffine drinks and chocolate.

Aww I do feel sorry for you Tasha as I have had this and its sooo painful. first they gave me cream to rub on my nipple so when Leorah would feed she's get it in her mouth. This did nothing for me though as I was getting very bad shooting pains so I then got capsules and it went eventually. Leorah never had any symptons either. I will warn you I got mastitis after too but caught it early, apparantley this can follow on from thrush, something to do with germs entering through your nipples. They do like to throw us some breastfeeding challenges don't they

Oh yeah eating yoghurt with probiotics is supposed to help. Hope you are better soon :)

 Avoid Chocolate lol im going to have trouble doing that

I will ring the Hv and ask her why she hasnt given Olivia anything, I wouldnt want it to get worse and get mastitis :shakehead:

Thanks for your replies and support

Some people just dont know how thrush works and how it is passed to and fro explain to her that you have reasearched and you know she should have something

Hi Tasha

Did you get some treatment for Olivia for thrush? Only I've just read your other thread about Olivia not being very settled the other night -and it made me wonder if she was perhaps in pain from thrush?

I had thrush when my Olivia was 3 wks old and the only symptom she had was a tiny bit of nappy rash but she was often unsettled at my breast. I was unsure if it was wind, no milk, pain etc so tried many things but after a couple of days of using the Daktarin gel that the Dr prescribed she was much more settled (well she often was unsettled when going through a growth spurt).

What treatment were you given to clear the thrush?
I had Fluconazole and it got rid of it within a few days.

Hope you're not in as much pain now

Lucy
