Hi everyone,

I've been shopping for pregnancy books as this is my first, and thought we might like to share titles of good ones we find?

I got two good ones at the weekend... The rough guide "pregnancy and birth" that takes you through each week and is quite amusing as well as being informative, and " pregnancy for modern girls" by holly smith that really tells it how it is and is really good.

Xx

excellent idea - did you get them on the internet or High Street?

I've got one - Babycentre's Pregnancy from preconception to birth - a lot of detail week by week x

Does the babcycentre one have good pics, as although the ones I got are brilliant to read, there's no pics. I got them both in waterstones. All the preg. Books are in the kids books section!

There are some pics but not loads - lots of bumps and images of how baby looks at each stage (i.e. dissected bellies). I got mine from Waterstones too x

ok I feel a purchase coming on, one for me and one for stupid lol. Just found Rough Guide to pregnancy on ebay so will watch that and also Dummies Guide to Pregnancy which may do for him ha ha. Will get his one posted direct to him oop North. He WILL understand!!! x

The best book i've read is 'The Best Friend's Guide To Pregnancy'. It tells it EXACTLY like it is!!! It made me laugh so much during my first pregnancy, i've just bought it again and it still has the exact same effect! Beats any of the Miriam Stoppard type books hands down! There's also 'The Best Friend's Guide To Motherhood' which is just as funny.

I've also just bought the Rough Guide To Pregnancy, which i'm really enjoying. I borrowed 'What To Expect When ou're Expecting' which is another good one.

I have what to expect when you're expecting and the follow on what to expect the first year.
Pretty bulky book and very handy.

I got mine from readitswapit.com for free just paid postage to swap for alternative book saved me a fortune

I just searched this on ebay - what picture has yours got on the front (the best friend's guide one) as there are 3 different ones on ebay :eh: xxx

I've got pregnancy for "dummies" had it when pregnant with Lacey and it was great! Been reading bits of it this time too but got an app on my iphone called ipregnancy which i find fantastic!!

I have what to expect when you're expecting, not a huge reader, but this book is great and so easy to read, and full of information would highly recommend it to any one expecting.

The first one I had had a red cover with a cartoony sketch drawing of a woman laying down with a huge bump! My newest copy is the same but in white. It's exactly the same book though. I got mine from Amazon marketplace for 1p!

I don't think it is, I hope not! :eh: It is really good, very funny and light-hearted but every word is true! There are no pictures though; I love seeing what my baby looks like at each stage so I had a Miriam Stoppard book too. x
