Went for my CD21 blood test this morning (I got my days worng when I booked it, I'm on CD20), I was sat in the chair for about 10 minutes with the health care assistant poking my arms to try and find a vein, she said she THINKS there was one on my right arm so put the needle in, attached the tube, but nothing came out so she moved the needle backwards and forwards to see if she could hit a vein, but still nothing. She then said she THINKS there was a vein on my left arm but when she prodded it it dissapeared. So again she put the needle in and nothing came out, moved the needle in (quite far) and out, this time she wriggled the needle from side to side too. Still no blood
. She she went and got one of the GPs to have ago. The GP was prodding my arms for ages too and then moved down to my wrists, she thought there was one on the side of my left wrist so sunk the needle in (this time it was one of those needle where you pull the plunger out) and nowt came out, so again the needle was wriggles back and forth and up and down and in and out (about an inch into me), but again no blood. She had another prod around all over my arms and hands to find somewhere and she thought she'd have a go on the back of my left hand, needle went in was wriggled about a bit and woohoo some blood, only a tiny thimble full though so kept on wriggling the needle around to try and get more but nothing. So all in all I was sat being prodded for half hour by a HCA and a GP and only produced a thimble of blood which they said they may not even have enough to test
and I got 4 nice bruises coming up on my arms, wrist and hand. Like I said it's a good job I like having blood taken
