well as some as you know i have been ttc sicne sep 06. 18 months odd

I had a m/c july 07 at the very early stages and no luck since

so i have booked a doctor appointment to see oh doctor first (we have different doctors) as i would like him to have some tests done & then once i spoken to his doctor this week i will go to mine as mine was not very helpful when i last spoke to him.

Hopefully we will find out why i have not conceived, alough i did fall pregnant i was only 5 weeks ish it failed before it even began.

what are the first things a doctor will do as i have no idea what could lie ahead?

Hi, good luck with your Dr's am sure you are doing the right thing, sometimes its best to just get checked out to rule certain issues out.

What they will prob do is a *21 day blood test (which you have to have on the 21st day after your period - hence the name) which checks that you are ovulating and also a sperm test on your husband to check numbers and mobility, once they have clarified all ok - or not - they can look into whether you may have any blockages in your tubes or maybe some scarring foll your miscarriage..

*am doubting myself now on the 21 day - pretty sure its 21 days after the first day of your last period but its been ages since I had mine....sorry

Hope this helps but am sure the Dr's will be able to explain all in a less botched way.

Trigger.

Hey honey

Goodluck with the GP appt. They will definately do a sperm test on hubby and then if thats all OK a "day 21" progesterone test which is in theory done on CD21, but in reality should be 7 days after Ov to get an accurate result. They may also do some CD2 tests (FSH/LH) to check your ovarian reserve (ie. that you're not having trouble producing eggs) and possibly thyroid function and prolactin as well. For you it'll all be blood tests.

If any problems come up i would asked to be referred to a fertility specialist straight away as they will be able to help you more than your GP probably would (depending on your GP obviosuly).

If you need to ask any questions or just talk you know where i am

xxx
