... then ask me anything! I've now got The Baby Whisperer book. I admit that currently i know nothing about babies and am quite scared at how clueless i am. I'm hoping that this book will hold all the answers

i saw that in the library, i might get it oput.
#
I did buy one about making your child a genius !!

I have the Baby Whisperer - it's quite interesting and has some really useful ideas in there, but I think I'm going to be trying the Gina Ford routine as it's a bit more structured, and I know four kids who were very, very contented Gina babies, so I know it works!

was gina ford who the controversay was over in america, or was that someone else?
mumsnet were nearly sued through it.
i bet it wasnt her.

It was her - she's a bit like Marmite, you either love her or hate her! A lot of people on Mumsnet were saying totally ridiculous and libelous things about her - that she was a satan-worshipper and all other kinds of nonsense.

I guess you just have to read her book and decide for yourself if you want to give it a go. A friend of mine read it before her first and was dead against it, but after two weeks of sleepless nights, she picked it up again, and her baby was sleeping through for 5 hours a night within days. Since then she's become a total convert!

Aww hun.. u know what? With my first, I was absolutely bricking it.. didn't have a clue what I was going to do.. I was scared I'd get it all wrong.. scared I'd mess up and end up having my son taken into care.. I didn't know who to turn to..

And then he was born.. and it's like nature kicked me up the arse and I knew exactly what to do. I made reference to books etc but other than that, once it happens, you'll find it so easy if you love your baby.. you'll do the right thing everytime!

I think it will come naturally, I'm not going to bother with books, just use this forum or my SIL if I get stuck

Ive worked for people who've used both of these books and out of the 2 I prefer the baby whisperer. Saying that though I think Gina Ford is fine but far too rigid for me, I worked for one family who followed it to the letter and they basically never left the house!! But another family I know used it and just followed it loosely and it was great. I think instinct does take over and remember all babies are different so whats suits one will not suit another. A lot of it is trial and error and just getting to know your little one.
