Well I have been testing my bloods religiously for a week and had mixed readings so have been put on metamorphine for a week to see if it helps. Went for my growth scan after 5 different midwives making comments about the size of my baby and the suggestion I won't need newborn clothes.... She is a completely average 4.9lbs which is fine for 34 weeks! She also seems keen to arrive as they said she is head down and almost engaged. All seems positive and I feel less worried about the gestational diabetes diagnosis. X

My boy measured 6lbs at 35 weeks which is little bit bigger so I wouldn't be worried. Your lo seems to be at good weight. I also have GD. My OB just started me on insulin. My numbers are under control but wanted to make sure baby doesn't have hard time adjusting when he's born. I'm 37 weeks now so I imagine baby is about 6.5 lbs now, they are guessing he will be about 8lbs but we shall see. He's head down but no signs yet that he's ready to come out. I hope he does soon though don't want him getting to big.

I'm with you on that one! Been so worried about having a big baby!! I was having Brixton hocks last night but they went pretty regular for a good 2 hours or so but nothing has happened. Shattered today so will be trying to rest as much as possible!

I have GD and am now 38+2. Had my last growth scan 2 days ago and baby estimated at 7lb 10ozs! They werent concerned about weight as still under top line on graph. At 34 wks he was 5lb 10oz and at 36 wks 7lb.
I am being induced in 5 days time, am assuming baby will probably be around 8.5lbs, hopefully no bigger lol! X

8.5 is a nice respectable size! 5 days and counting I bet!! That's super exciting! X

Carla did they say why you are being induced? I've got my appointment next Tues but I've been told by a midwife that it's likely that I won't be induced early now and could go to 40+6! All because I've decreased my insulin and am classed as diet controlled. I'm a bit gutted, I'd fully embraced getting induced and meeting him earlier, plus should I be worried about placental deterioration? Xx

It is procedure in my health board area to induce everyone with GD at 38-39 weeks. I have not been on any meds and it has been diet controlled since i got diagnosed at 28 weeks. My blood glucose readings are mainly all fine with the odd one or 2 being over but mainly no issues.
So i am considered the lowest risk of GD category therefore being left till 39 weeks. Consultant said to me that if u wanted to refuse early induction u could but they would still then advise induction on your due date.
Think they said GD can get really unstable in last couple of wks and obviously baby will need his blood glucose levels monitoring & possibly stabilising for the first few days after birth. Assume getting them out early is just considered bit safer and as they are term at 37 weeks theres no concerns at baby coming a week or two early.
But like i said all health board areas have their own rules and your health board must have their reasons for not inducing u early x

Ah, well I hope mine do too! The midwife kept constantly referring to NICE guidelines but I really would prefer to be induced at 39 weeks too. Another thing out of my control ha! I bet you are excited :) XXX

It's crazy because I'm in Scotland and we have different cut off's from England and different rules and regulations. They said that we would be left to 39-40 weeks but won't go over unless all is fine. I am hoping to go just before my due date as my sister is due 10 days after me and would be nice to have a bit of a gap haha x

I am in South Wales and they were quoting NICE guidelines to me so dunno where they exactly apply to. They said wouldnt consider letting u go over as per normal pregnancy but then again if thats what i really wanted they couldnt force induction on me. I'm happy and prepared to be induced now tho i think and baby is on 95th centile somi reckon if i went to near 41-42 week he'd be a 10lb-er

I defo want to be induced!!! My SPD is so bad, I just want rid of the pain! What are you ladies packing in your Hosp bag foodwise? XXX
