Im in need of some advice.

I've been set on the name Elizabeth as a first name since I was 6! - its my mum's name, grans name, and a few generations before.

However - I cant settle on a shortened verison of this I like - and feel its a bit much for everyday use. Our way around this is, both my mum and DH are known by their middle names - so the girls name we choose will be used every day - but as a middle name on birth cert. (yes i know its weird).

So anyways one of the names i really like is Georgia - cos the first movements ive felt was bubs dancing to "George Strait" - which bubs appears to love.

Wondering if Elizabeth Georgia Maclean is too much of a mouthful??

xx

ps - sorry for the ramble.

Hmm...

It is abit of a mouthful but its not like anybody is actually going to be saying her full name so to me, that wouldn't matter.

On the other hand.. I think it actually sounds nice all together ! xx

Thats kinda what i was thinking - i know they tell you to choose a shorter middle name if first name is long - but only time my full name got used was when i was in BIG trouble. lol

I love Georgia and think they all go well together.

p.s I have a friend called Elizabeth but everyone calls her Lily. x

I don't think it's too much at all, it sounds lovely. I quite like Libby as a shortened version

I really like the name Georgia but i think that you are using it unnecessarily.

Elizabeth isn't hard to say at all because it's so well known, it just comes out easily and it's a beautiful name.

And i can appreciate that you are trying to use a loop hole to get around the situation, but you will not be calling your daughter Elizabeth if it isn't what you call her.

No one will appreciate the tradition unless you actually call her Elizabeth everyday :)

I think it sounds nice :) and like both names.

I've noticed a lot of the men at work have different names on our HR system to what they are called as they go by their middle names, so I assume it can be quite common. It can be a bit confusing though!

Would you not have Elizabeth as her middle name?

The sunday name/middle name for everyday is quite common in our family. My mum and all her sisters are known by their middle names, as is my husband. doesnt seem to cause as many problems as you'd think.

so in theory going that way is using a family tradition on both sides. lol.

Lol. Cool, well go for it! Both names are lovely :) Must be nice to have name chosen! I wish we had it done! xx

I like the entire name, but if you are going to call her Georgia, why not use Elizabeth as her middle name? That way you continue the tradition of using Elizabeth as a name. Plus I think Georgia Elizabeth sounds nice. Either way both lovely names

i like it. my name b4 i was married and now still is a mouth full
Angharad georgina Williams!!! (hense angie)
i like long names.

Thans everyone. I'm presently swining between Lily (short for elizabeth ), and Georgia. Dont actually know if DH has much of an opinion on either, so think we're now gonna wait till she gets here and see which one she looks like.xxx
