Finally managed to catch 5 mins to sit down and write my birth story, sorry if I waffle a bit!
Was booked in for an induction on 27th August when I was 38+2, we were all amazed I managed to get that far and I felt pretty pleased with myself as I had very bad spd and sciatica and literally could not walk or sleep!
We went into hospital at 9 and despite being told I was 1cm that coul stretch to 3cm a week before the consultant said that I was only just 1cm so would require the 24 hour induction. I was disappointed as I had that last time and it took so long and I had geared up to have them that day. Anyways I got given some pain releif for my spd and set off walking the hospital corridors! H got dropped off to have lunch and we just wandered around. At about 3pm I started getting very regular contractions, I get them all in my back. They weren't that uncomfortable but we went back to the labour ward to check in.
They wanted to keep monitoring the babies but they struggled to keep the trace on them even though they were perfectly healthy they had to ave documentation so I was lying down for ages on the trace.
By this point I was having 5 or 6 contractions in 10 mins and I started on the gas and air as a distraction, again it wasn't that bad but a bit uncomfortable! I remained like this all night long and in the end they gave me pethadine so I could get some sleep!
I was examined at 7 am the next morning and was only 2 cm dilated! I kept telling the midwife that I felt that both the heads were under my ribs and was very uncomfortable but no one took much notice!
I was put on the hormone drip and given an epidural, I was so tired and fed up by now!
At about 10 they broke my waters which didn't make any difference but had a small bleed.
The next examination was at 2pm, again I was only 2cms. I was in tears by then, the doctors wanted to leave me till 6 to call it a day which I wasn't happy with but trusted their call.
The midwife tried to put the trace back on but couldn't pin the girls down so the registrar did a scan which revealed that the girls were both breech! I was right all along!
The decision was then made for an emergency c section. I was happy having a c section but I was very scared and hubbie cried, I have only ever seen him cry once before when h was born. I was taken through the consent and whisked straight off to theatre, I was given a spinal block and a new epidural as the one I had was very patchy and as I have had a pph before they wanted to be able to top up if necessary.
Hubbie came in wearing his scrubs which was funny and the sheet went up, I didn't realise they had started before they held up Georgia at 3.41pm and Charlotte at 3.43pm. Georgia was straight off crying but Charlotte needed a tiny bit of oxygen. Hubbie was able to hold Georgia straight away.
I proceeded to have another pph but they were prepared and only lost 1.5ltrs and they were able to salvage 250mls which they transfused back not me.
I felt very sick and threw up on the way out of theatre. I spent the next day in recovery as I had an infection and they wanted to keep a closer eye on me.
All in all despite it being a c section it was a much easier birth than with h and I'm now quite mobile a week after!
