i have been reading up on gaviscon infant as my daughter is always being sick after her feeds.
i have just read a test study case where they tested babies where some were given gaviscon and some were given a placebo and it prooved there was no difference and that there were no benefits of giving this to your baby.
was just wondering if any of you giving gaviscon infant have found any benefits.

Arianna was prescribed it by the doctor for her reflux and it defo helped her.... but then I know other Mums on here that say it didnt help.

Each case is different

Definitely helped Jude. He was throwing up whole bottles and was sooo distressed at feeding times til he started on the Gaviscon. As Sarah says though, other Mums haven't found it as good. Defo worth a try in my opinion though.

can it be bought at the pharmacy or is it prescription only?

Yep you can buy it over the counter it cost about 4 quid odd if you go docs you will get it free .

thanks for that, will get some tomorrow and will give it a try. will let you know how i get on

just went to the chemist and was told it cant be sold over the counter for infants under 1 year old. fair enough........
will have to make an appointment with my gp.
mind you........since i have been weaning her, she is not so sick

Maia had it for reflux but it made her really constipated.

She's pretty much over it now thankfully.

it works for riley *touch wood*

ive just upped his dose from 2times a day to 4. as it was wearing off to quick.

:)

We didn't have much luck with it. It didn't seem to make a difference for Tom. His reflux was bad though so we got prescribed Ranitidine and Domperidone which sorted it. Lx

It worked for Ryan for about 4 weeks then he started being sick and restless again.

We stopped giving him Gaviscon by chance last weekend cos we ran out and couldnt get a prescription til the Monday, we thought we were in for a nightmare of a weekend but once he'd had a few bottles without it he was fine so we've kept him off it.

When it works though its great :)

thanks for all your replys. i have decided not to bother at the moment cuz since she has been having solids, she seems to be fine
