My husband and I have decided to get a chair for our anniversary. That sounds silly... But, a nice chair. We love furniture and apart from Jacob's stuff, the beds are the only things we actually chose. The rest is from charity shops, and we took what they had. After six years of marriage and nine years of being together, we want to start building up a collection of our own things. We are looking for something that will last forever (like my Nana's chairs, that she got before my mother was born!) and for that reason, we aren't exactly bargain hunting. We aren't going to destroy our savings, obviously, but I think you get the point. I love looking at furniture in Habitat and John Lewis (though pricey), but I don't see anything that's exactly right there. I like simple and modern, and interesting patterns. It doesn't have to be a fabric that won't go out of style because I like reupholstering. I want comfy, pretty shape, maybe fits two people when squished. Does anyone know of some stores? I don't really know any furniture stores apart from DFS and MFI because of commercials, and my husband definitely doesn't!

I've always wanted an Eames chair, I keep seeing them in magazines, they often go up in value and are classics in my opinion.

What a cool site!

That's a great site, thanks! I enjoyed looking at it, but it is a little out of my league! Those chairs are amazing and really comfy. Maybe someday!

I like those two, and other things on those sites! Thanks! I'm actually thinking about getting an Ikea chair now haha... It wouldn't be a "forever" chair knowing Ikea, but I do like it, especially for where we are now. You can also get a matching footstool.

I adore Ligne Roset Togo chairs and sofas. Been around so long they are on display in the musuem of modern art iirc. But then they are not the sort of chair or sofa you can recover easily.

They have survived being sat on by gits in BB a few years ago. I was appalled they didn't appreciate the design classic furniture they were sat on :wall:

Not really helpful eh

I love those! I sat in one before... I think it was in Stockholm. If I had one I am pretty sure I wouldn't dare to reupholster it anyway.

Oh I remember now! I used to go to their store in Edinburgh all of the time! :D I forgot about them. Thanks!
