As far as I can tell adding people to these lists (which is pretty easy and can be done through the User Control Panel) has the following advantages:

FOES:

* All posts by your foes are hidden by default (so you don't have to get annoyed at their 'words of wisdom')... though you can click on the post and then read the post if you choose to.

FRIENDS:

* When you get PMs from a friend they have a special little square by them! Woo! Then if you haven't replied they're green or something.
* On your list of friends you can see instantly (in the user control panel) exactly who's online.

As far as I can tell that's about it, but it's entirely possible I haven't a clue as I've barely used the function!!

Thanks very much  I wonder if foes can see all your messages and pictures etc? Would be nice to be able to 'block' like you can on facebook.

If you add someone as a foe you don't always see their posts.

For example, if you added me as a foe (better not bitch  ) when I posted on a thread you'd just see a message saying 'the following post is by Minxy, who is on your foe list. Click here to read.'

It's really handy and when I see the same people sniping at each other I wish I could make people use it

The friends thing is just so you can see at a glance which of your friends are online. And when you go to your PM menu, your messages will be coloured coded into friends and foes.

EDIT: Debeccas said it all whilst I was typing slow.

Minxy theres people I don't want seeing my posts, can I stop that?

no, the only way you could do that is to post in adults as long as they don't have access

Oh well. Thanks very much 'friends' :rotfl:

I won't foe you, awww you should have called it hoes and foes :rotfl:
