how do you go about getting this? is it only availble if your on nhs or is it for private patients too?

not sure if its for private also, but i wasnt registered at a dentist so I just went in, filled in some forms and now i have an appointment today!

I think its just NHS and its for a year after baby is born too x

I was wondering about this too.
Have lived in the area for a year, but haven't registered.
Will they be funny about it, now that I am registering, knowing it will be free?
Are you expected to prove you are pregnant and is there a minimum of weeks pregnant that you need to be?
Sorry for all the daft questions, but noticed my gums are bleeding really bad and need to pluck up the courage to register, just worried about doing it!

when you see your mw at booking she will have put a from in your notes, fill it in, send it off and youll get a card for free NHS prescriptions and NHS detal care, it lasts until the day befor you babys 1st birthday . . . it goes from you EDD!!! you can use any NHS practice but obviously its best to register then you can get care that knows your history!!!

good luck for today jld . . . i hate dentists so still havent booked an appointment!!!

You should have an NHS exemption card that you show them, the same one you show with prescriptions so you don't have to pay.

I didnt even know about the card or anything - i registered with a new dentist when i was about 10 weeks pregnant and when i had to go and fill in all my details there was a section that asked if youre pregnant and how far along. I never had to prove it x

My MW gave me a form at my booking app, I filled it in, sent it off and got an exemption card back! :) x

I had my appointment and told him my gums were sore etc an he said that he could see the tenderness of my guMS. THEY ARE VERY DELICATE SINCE BEING PREGGIE AND HE CONFIRMED that is the reason why.

got another appointment on thurs for a polish :)

I didn't register at dentist til I was 3 months then because I always get bad bleeding gums in pregnancy the dentist does a scale and polish every 3 months and she's still doin this even tho I've had baby xx

I had to ask my MW for the form but once I had filled it in and sent it off I had my card back within a week. Went to the dentist for the first time in 5 years last week and all was fine with my teeth!

What does a scale and polish consist of? my dentist was saying my mouth may hurt for a week after but will then be ok.
