As above as unsure as after many tears today I am changing to formula and expressing what I can, thanks again everyone for your support

It really depends on your baby to be honest, from my experience every baby is different and reacts in different ways. For us, we started on SMA gold which made her constipated, changed to cow and gate, which gave her the most horrendous runs for about 3 weeks, changed back to SMA gold and she is now fine! So who knows really?!

It is best to give them a good try before you think about changing though, as it is apparently not good to change them too much.

Started on SMA gold which was fine but she was being sick, moved to C&G comfort which she was still sick on, it smelled awful and the diarrhoea was horrendous so moved back to SMA gold.

Have heard good things about Aptamil but I'm not going to change her milk again.

Aptimil made Maddison sick, SMA Gold made her constipated, now on Cow & Gate and no problems

I think you will have to try quite a few formulas before you find the right one.

I would start with Aptamil. If that doesnt satisfy you (constipation, being sick and etc.) then Aptamil easy digest, then Cow and Gate, then Cow and Gate comfort (which worked for us). Why aptamil and cow and gate-cos they contain friendly immuno bacterias (you will read on the pack) and are closer to breadt milk, other formulas, including SMA dont.

I have never had a problem with Aptamil and find that LO digests it easily, I am now going to continue with the Follow on for 6m+ soon. But as others have said, you have to just pick one and see how your baby gets on with it. x

It depends on the baby and what suits them. I had James on SMA Gold but with hindsight I think I should have changed his milk as he was very windy.

Logan started on SMA Gold a couple weeks ago, but I had to change him to Aptamil as he was being sick.

I think Aptamil is good for a baby used to breastmilk as it has the same consistency. SMA is yellowy in colour, thicker and greasier :puke:

If your baby is used to breastmilk - I'd start off with Aptamil, its supposed to be the closest to it :)

See how you go with it, maybe just buy some cartons first to see how you get on - thats what we did.

we started on sma gold but aiden was projectile vomitting bc of the wind it was giving him.

we then changed to aptimal and he has been great on that :D also agree with muppetmummy - sma gold was really thick and clumpy compared to aptimal, i think aptimal may be a bit kinder on the stomach.
