Follow on milk

I say don't. Purely because overheard the HV telling someone it's not much nutritionally better than 1st milk so no need.

we don't - personally think its just a gimmick! they get all they need from 1st milk!

That's what I was leaning towards. I thought that if I was still bf it's the same concept. I was reading up on it last night and it said follow on milk gives them the iron they don't get from their food! I didn't get that cos if in giving her plenty of fruit and veg she'll get enough iron. It sounded like a sales pitch!!

Iron comes mostly from egg and meat. There is plenty in vegetables but is no really absorbed ifykwim. That's why it's harder for babies to get good iron levels as they don't eat so much of those foods.

So do you just keep them on the first milk? Or wean off milk altogether??

Personally I planning bf but if I end up on formula for whatever reason I will give stage 2 and 3 or follow on maybe is called in uk until 1 year old and then special cow milk for toddlers from the supermarket . ( the same as the adult ones but with enhanced calcium, iron etc etc) by that time the baby will be on solids anyway and the cost will not be so terrible as it will be in less bottles (cups) per day.
I also plan to follow the Greek whining scheme rather than the Norwegian one and introduce first protein and lipids and vegetables and much later other carbohydrates like porridge and cereal, bread etc anything will gluten really.
But for now those are only thoughts, GOd knows what I will do with a hungry screaming baby lol...
