Folic Acid, Iron and Vit D supplements... Any luck?

So on what will be cycle number 11 TTC #1, I'm thinking about trying some supplements. Last month I bought a shed load of 'one-a-day' pills from a well known brand... containing folic acid, iron and vit D to support 'normal fertility and reproduction' apparently.

I've not tried them yet but I just wondered if anyone else had tried this sort of thing out and if they'd had any luck? The reviews on a well-known marketplace site beginning with A are generally very positive...

I have regular cycles, though quite painful periods (first day of full flow is usually nasty - heavy and have to use painkillers which I'd like to try and avoid, it then becomes normal and light and lasts for 3/4 days in total). Apart from that, I don't believe there is anything wrong with me. Would taking supplements therefore be unnecessary or possibly even detrimental, or should I take a 'can't do any harm' attitude?

Any thoughts ladies?

I took seven seas ttc vits for all pregnancies. I definitely don't think they can hurt. What brand are yours? A word of warning, some ladies on here have struggled with pregnacare ones (longer cycles etc) so just have a search for those posts if it's those. Also I had terribly painful/heavy periods. Researched Mayan abdominal massage and tried it once, next period I barely noticed and then I got pregnant. I recommend it to lots of people now! x

Yes these are Seven Seas - Have heard mixed reviews. It seems like my cycles have evened out after coming off the pill in September last year. They are now at a steady 29/30 day cycle which is good. And I am definitely ovulating and seem to having a 'normal' luteal phase. So I wouldn't want to mess that up. But, at the same time, I do have that one day of awful pain when AF first arrives in full blast, and I usually spot for 2 or three days before hand which is a pain, especially during the TWW - I always think it COULD be implantation bleeding, but it never is :(

Would you say it's worth a go? I certainly wouldn't want my cycles to become any longer. I'm in two minds... If it can't do any harm then why not hey?

Candymycandy - Congrats on baby number 2 by the way! :) Can I ask, did you have regular cycles? If so, why did you choose to take them?

Vitamins are always worth a go but no guarantee they will help or get you pregnant xx

Heath professionals always recommend taking vits when ttc - especially ones with folic acid in them. I take Superdrug's own pregnancy and conception multivitamins. Good luck to you.
