So today I woke up with a sore throat, body is aching & my eyes & ears are sore. By the time frame I'm worrying it could be more than a cold, as they tend to build up over a few days rather than hours. I've googled (shouldn't have) and read all kinds from pre term labour to birth abnormalities.

Also the baby hasn't been as active yesterday & today as he usually is. I'm 24 weeks gone yesterday. I feel him, but not as often, not as intense, and not for as long.

Natural worrier here, I guess I'm wondering how bad is flu in pregnancy? And could me being poorly affect LOs movements?

I'm at the midwife tomorrow for BP check so will mention all this. But I've scared myself silly!

:( xx

I'd be tempted to call the midwife now anyway due to baby having reduced movements. It's often nothing and they go crazy as soon as you're brought in to be monitored at MAU but definitely worth a check! I've been a few times with my little bugger and it always goes mad when we're there haha!

You can also phone them for advice about the flu if you're worried! Hope this helps x

when I was last pregnant (2010) I caught the flu when I was 8 weeks pregnant. I hadn't had he chance to have the flu vacine by this point. I've never been so ill in my life. I ended up in hospital as I got dehydrated, and I was bed ridden at home for about 4 weeks through sheer exhaustion from it. I couldn't have any of the flu medicines they had, it was just the worst. I went on to have a normal pregnancy though and my little boy was born at 40 weeks perfectly healthy thank goodness. If you had full blown flu you would definitely know it.

If you are worried about reduced movements though, I would def contact midwife.

I was awake most of the night shivering / sweating. Managing my temp tho which I think is the main thing? As I was awake through night I felt baby moving quite a bit which is a relief, I'll still mention it. I'm not snotty but I'm feeling exhausted & my joints are so sore, so much so LO is staying with grandma after my appointment this morning 'till OH gets home from work. Not sure what it could be. :(

Thanks for reassurance obviously you don't hear about the cases where people have been totally fine when you google.

I was told to get the flu jab in 3rd trimester (not sure if they offer it before autumn cause I wasn't entitled to it with my daughter born in September?) maybe changed tho, I'll certainly be booking in tho. X

Midwife didn't seem concerned about the possibility of a viral infection. And when I mentioned potentially reduced movements she said A. I have an anterior placenta (I wasn't aware) and B. it could be because I'm poorly. She said if I do feel worried to go back & I'll be monitored though. X
