Hi. I've got my booking in appointment on Monday and i'm very excited cos it feels like everything will be a bit more real and official then!
We haven't told anybody we are expecting yet so I was wondering what family history i will need to know for my appointment?
Also what else is likely to happen?

Hi beanster, sorry I haven't actually got my 1st appt with M/W yet (desperate for the phone to ring!) but the doc said she will take blood and urine and probably weigh you. Family history they want to know is if anyone yours or fathers side had birthing complications or anything like heart defects etc.

She should give you some leaflets and stuff too and get you booked in for scan hopefully. I can't wait for mine! There's too much waiting with this pregnancy lark!!

I had mine about an hour ago :)

I was weighed (boo), gave some blood samples and provided a urine sample.

She then went through my medical history, asked lots of questions including if my mum had post natal depression, if there was history of genetic conditions on both sides of the family and other family related disorders.

That was about it really, she explained what would happen next - scans etc and the frequency of the appointments. A scan was booked for me at the pre-booking appointment I had. I was also given the form at my pre-booking for free prescriptions (but I get those anyway)

All in all, it wasn't that exciting. No one has actually checked to see if I am pregnant so I could be making it all up!
