Sofia has sniffly nose, so I gave her some nasosal drops and put her in the bathroom and made it all steamy, but I think she's coming down with a cold.
She's struggling to feed so I'm gonna express and see if she takes it better from a bottle, and she's just not herself.

What can I do for her? She's only 2 weeks old tomorrow, I haven't come across any medicines for babies this young. I feel a bit helpless to be honest, any advice would be great. X

Jack has had a stuffy nose since the day he was born, i use nasal drop before his morning feed and then before his bedtime feed. Thats all the midwife, HV and Doctor has said that u can do. Dont worry to much about it lovely.

I was the exact same! She will be just fine im sure. If u are worried though u can go check with the doctor to put your mind at ease x

Thanks honey, that's reassured me. I'll just try that then! I just feel sorry for her cos she has been such a good feeder and now she's struggling I don't want to ruin our feeding routine, I guess it can't be helped if she's unwell. When I give her the drops she kind of chokes on them, is that normal or am I doing it wrong? X

nope ur doing it right.. i think it maybe as it trickles to the back near their throat.. Jack does it.. he coughs and pulls a funny face and then his fine. his sitting with me now and his stuffy.. apparantly its really common.

Im not sure how long its supposed to last for, i will be asking doc on next check up.

I worried alot at first and thought he was struggling with his feed but we just took our time, he'd have some milk then stop for 30 secs then start again. Im not sure how easy it will be while you BF.

xx

oh and dont worry, i wouldnt say it means their unwell.. just mucus thats the size of human bogeys (tmi) in a tiny nasal passage.. thats how the HV explained it to me. It can be cause by mucus from the womb still been in the passage and they sneeze it out.

Im not saying you should do this as its own discretion but when i saw mucus i would use a cotton bud to tickle his nose so he'd sneeze and sometimes pull the mucus out.. Im so carefull though as he could move at anytime x

Hey sweet, tilt the mattress on her Moses basket or cot too! I've permanently got a pillow under Charleys!

Drake had a really bad cold at 2 weeks, was awfull to watch. I Just propped the matress up on his moses basket (only thing i could do really!) and after 2 nights (and a carefull watch) he was much better.

i brought one of them, its terrible. I didn't get mine from boots though. I may have to get one today as mine falls apart as i squeze the bottom x
